Thanks for all the input guys. How much work time do I have with the superglue? And will it adhere okay to painted rock-hard schwag? And should I set a hood on top for a little weight or is that bad?

Uh-Oh I just used some of my contact cement. Will this hold? or should I rip it off?
If it peels off, you should probably use something else  If it starts to rip, it might be worth a shot leaving it on but keep a ready spare :cool2:

Don't see why not. I just installed my ghetto McMasterCarr hoodseal, which came with adhesive backing. I didn't trust that at first, but testing revealed it's purdy strong all by itself.
No glue needed.

I used 3m weather stripping from Advance. It seems to work great but I didn't use enough so I went to the hobby shop and got a big tube of "superglue", aka Cyanoacrylate, aka CA. I ran the CA in some of the loose/void spots. I don't think I'll have a problem until it's time to remove it.

Copy that, and you can also get it in black. I use it and my seal has not come loose one time since!

do you have a pic of the seal or link to the diagram on the MCMC website

I think I'm going to run some weather strip around, and if starts to let up, then just put it back down with CA.... That would be a pain to get off if you ever needed to redo the seal..... at least I would think it would!

Are you guys cleaning the hood seal before you're trying to glue it? My new one had a white powder like film on it that I had to clean first. Used a little Acetone and DAP weldwood and seems fine.

Just to bring this ol' gem back to life... I tried some weather stripping glue... SUCKED! Came off after a few hours in the water... I tore the whole gasket back off with little problems, cleaned everything up...

I tied the super glue (CA) I didn't think it would hold well at all.... HELL! I will NEVER EVER EVER use anything other than CA glue to hold the seal down again, worked great, dried fast!! I glued it down at about 1am went out skiing at 9am. The glue held it in place with only a min or two of holding it by hand....

Another vote for CA!
