Super Jet Hood not tight Watcon hood seal

So I just picked up a 91 SJ and the previous owner replaced the hood seal with a Watcon hood seal. I’ve used them in the past as well and I’m not saying they are bad. The thing is, now the hoodlatch isn’t even tight on the hood after I latch it. I can tell it’s not engaging on the hood itself and can move the hood around a bit. I don’t think it’s going anywhere but I’m curious to what my options are here? I’ve used the adjustable billet am hood latches but I honestly don’t think it will be enough. Has anyone relocated the latch on the hood or on the hull in a manner that would tighten it up? Im sure I’m not the first one with this problem.

Are you sure the upper deck hasn’t sagged, the squares are pretty well known for it especially at the front of the hood sealing area.

My 1991 SN with the Watcon seal seals perfectly tight. I do store it with the hood open so the seal isn’t always compressed though.

I am not sure. This is the first SN I’ve owned and the first time I’ve heard of the upper deck sagging. You’re saying the lip around the bilge area on the hull sags? I’ll have to give it a closer inspection tonight.

You can theoretically remove the latch, fill the holes with high strength thickened epoxy then re drill the latch mounts slightly higher on the hood. Had to drill the latch holes on my carbon hood and that is what I did. Slightly on the high side, and it is a tiiiight latching mechanism now.

Adjustable hood hooks and prongs are another item to consider
