Slowly but surely....
Hood Rat to Hot Rod... Js300/440/550 Thing.

Nobody likes spider cracks and I figured with all the sanding that has happened to her it was probably really thin on the top outside edge of the hood seal area. So I filled up an old caulk tube with a shredded fiberglass cabosil mix and smeared it in there. Worked out so pearl.
Body work on the hull and hood is like 95%. Just some pin holes and whatnot. Bottom needs a little smear and its good.
Spent pretty much the whole weekend sanding every nook and cranny. I'm not having gelcoat pop off because of shoddy prep work. Just been sanding sanding sanding, filling in the lows and taking down the highs. I can't spend all this time and effort to have a bunch of waves and ripples. She has quite the back story and needs to look pearl.

Seen this pic that Mr.codyadams209 posted in the ultimate 550 pic thread the other day.... I really like the handlepole. The flat top over the bars looks so clean. I been searching for something that looks like a stocker but with a twist.
A couple more layers yet for the hood.

For my first time spraying gelcoat I am very pleased on how everything layed down. But I'm not out of the woods yet, hopefully it hardens.
After seeing the ski all one color it sure looks so tiny. So pumped to ride!
Gonna wet sand and buff soon. Just giving the gel plenty of time to cure and whatnot.
I have just about everything to finish up the build. I do need to find a cutback sxr impeller tho, dont think a skat 15.75° is gonna like the 750 very much....

Just a quick wet sand....
I had this real clean 650sx pump from my old JetJon, (man I miss that thing) but I had to cut the ears off so it would mate up to the pump tunnel I was using. It has been sitting in a tub for the last 2 years. The wear ring was like new but practically useless for anything else so I never tossed it.
The wear ring in the pump I got on that 650 hull was pretty swelled.
Sooooo I swapped them.
Easy as pie! Only took like an hour.
I put the ring in the freezer and the pump in the oven. A couple of taps and it slid right in. Set screw even lined up

Gonna have to run a stock pole for a while...no tig
Guess I'm runnin a trusty ol' red tank...no tig

Really didnt want to rubber strap the ebox to the gas tank, just makes things look so garbage. Needed something clean and pro to hold everything so this is what we came up with.

Correct me if im wrong but it looks like you could even go with an oversized gas tank in that if you modify it enough

A stock 650sx tank almost fits, but I'll make a nice one out of aluminum soon enough. That red can holds 2.5gal. Should be fine for a while.
