Hood Seal Issues - Best way to fix

Hey guys,
I've searched to see if anyone else has the same prob and ways to fix but no love.

I have and aftermarket hull/hood and noticed the the hood seal doesn't work too well. found out doing the 'note-trick' that while it properly seals on the front and back, in the middle it seams that there is less compression and doesn't seal there (obviously a slight curve in the hood/hull). I'm using a brand new seal too, anyone had the same issue and know any techniques to improve it?

Cheers!
Guy.

Define 'aftermarket hood/hull' for us, who built it? If the hood is warped, you can sand it to make it flatter.

you may want to tryt his cheap trick out
i went to home depot and bought this 3/8" * 3/4" wide weather stripping for $2.95
you can try using that. its got alot of cushion to it too
if and how long it will work, who knows, but its cheap and easy

look in the door section to find it

you can wrap the edge of the hood with like a door guard type piece to extend it downward some and widen it. or you can sand the hood as long as it doesn't get so low it will rub the body.

if anything, the fix i suggest should work in a pinch... but we are using it on her SXR with the 3dr hood and works perfectly.... especially at the price
i would think any home improvement place would have it, and it comes with a sticky side too, worst case you peel it off, some WD40 to remove the residue, and all gone and clean

Here's something you can try. I was going to use this idea on my ski but nobody around here had what I was looking for. Go to a windows and doors specialty place and see about the different styles of door stripping. Not to be confused with the neoprene sticky sided tape, but the actual white or black rubber frame seal. Another idea that I tried and was the closest thing to working was the door bottom seal for a garage door. They do make it in various sizes. The shop I talked to only had a few different sizes but they were more of a commercial garage door place. Their smallest size was really close, if it were just a bit smaller it would have been so much better than the OEM seal. They gave me a small cut off they had kicking around to sample fit and go from there. You might get the perfect size if there are any places that carry a good range of different seal sizes.

I did the same thing. But I wrapped a thick piece of foam inside the seal. Best seal I've ever seen. Almost couldn't get the hood to latch once the foam had expanded.
