Hood seal- square nose

What are you guys running these days? I tried some searching, but the typical response is they are all junk.

Anyone have anything work from the autoparts store?

I researched it like you are doing a little while back and settled on the Watcon seal, got mine on eBay.

I haven't installed it yet, but it supposedly works well, many recommend cutting a slit on the front section closest to the hood hooks for best performance. Wish I could give you a ride report, but that project has been on hold for a bit.

I'm not set on the watson, mixed reviews. I was hoping someone found something a little bit beefier.

I just have the generic one from hydroturf like the old 550s have. It actually works great. Its very stiff until your hood molds a groove in it. But once it sets in place it works great.

I've had a Watcon seal on my SN for at least 5 years and it is still in great shape. Still spongy, still seals like it is supposed to. I would definitely recommend it.

Placing order for watcon now. Thanks

Also, what are you guys doing with the sag in the glass near where the handpole mounts? I was thinking I'd level it out with some epoxy

I didn't slit mine, but one thing to verify is where your hood lip sits at the front section (behind the handlepole). On mine the seal needed to be closer to the engine bay and not centered in the seal groove to function properly.

Something like this would probably work pretty well if you got the right size and thickness:

You aren't buying overpriced weatherstripping... You're buying overpriced weatherstripping that Randy did the research on to be the proper shape and compound for a jetski in the harsh environments that they face.
Couldn't have said it better.

Watcon and the other "a/m seals" on the market are overpriced weather striping.

Having said that I also use the watcon seal and so far so good on my SN with blowsion hood. But I am going to add a seal to the hood as well and see if that makes it even better.

Sorry, but you could NOT be more wrong here......

At least with out seal, it is NOT just your basic weather strip. I buy this in bulk (Over 1000 feet), and is OE material, rated for watercraft.

Would like to see these "mixed reviews". I have not heard anyone personally unhappy. Typically the haters have never used our product, or they know nothing of what they are talking about....
