Super Jet hooker 9/15 or 10/16?

I emailed impros and didn't get a response. Just wondering what hooker you guys would recommend me getting.

I have:
freestyle ported 701
ada head running about 170 compression (not sure what dome size)
b pipe
stock 38's? (not sure)

Thanks

I'd go 9/15. I ran a 9/15 first with a 61x/61x motor with total loss, b pipe, and 175psi and it was good. Then I ran a big bore ported motor at 771cc running straight av gas at 210psi with dual 44 GRS carbs, total loss, and b pipe and it was still good.

I have both and can't tell any diff between the two without a tach. I have run them behind my 5mil Jetworks Lamey. The 10/16 is in the pump now and for no good reason other than it was the last one in the pump.

ps-the Hookers are the ONLY way to go if your not gonna pony up and buy a MAG pump! (and I can't make myself buy a MAG because the Hooker does sooooooooo good!)

I would love to buy a mag but I dont have that kind of cash right now. My current impeller is starting to cavitate so I was gonna try a hooker in it but wasn't sure which pitch to go with.

Have you tried any Big Hub Skats, Gil? Art suggested the Skat over Hooker on my 5mm setup.

I ride a limited 701 and am considering the 9/15, but I like to chase cruisers on Lake Travis. How much mid/top end do you loose going to the 9/15? Should I consider the 10/16 if I want more than just bottom end? Thanks for any input.

I was told 10/16 in a modified ski by Dave@ impros
I ran mine in a ported, piped, hi comp, MSD enhancer 61x and it worked great
I then blew my motor and put in my old motor: 650 w/pipe, 185 psi, etc
and it STILL ran great!

I'm running a 9/15 Hooker in my surf ski, 61X/61X B pipe 180 comp, MSD Enh.. Decent bottom end, great Mid & still fast on top... Works great in the surf, I say go with a 9/15.

you know this really comes down to trial and error and personal taste
to me, i liked the "pop" the -15 gave
i didn't care to much for the -16, but again personal taste
i myself felt a difference between them, especially coming out of a deep sub
i don't think you can go wrong with either one, and Dave is usually good at repitching if you need to or want to

I also felt the ski more stronger in the mid and upper with the -16, not exactly where i wanted it
the -15 had more low end pop over the custom 13-15 solas Dave setup for me

i can probably break the -15 loose with my current setup if i whack the throttle wide open, but then again i am running well over 200 psi on a 5mil

i've tried many props/pitches/cut backs to set it up the way i like it, and right now an out of the box -15 is pretty hard to beat.
also keep in mind, i am WELL over the 200# range, probably closer to 3+ with gear on, so it works for me

I enjoy my 10/16 hooker. Nice snap but I did notice a drop in the mid range "push" vs my cut back 13/18 skat. I'm going to try a larger exit nozzle and see if that gets the push back. - 760 ported, 180psi, stock pump w/ blowsion cone - BOB hull -

All in all I would recommend..

I just bought the 144 Solas 12 van mag and I want to have all bottom end. I have a waveblaster 1. 701 b pipe. Looking to build a new pump all together and need to know what prop , pitch, make. And any info or advice would really help. Thanks.

Every boat is so different there is no such thing as a majic prop that works for everyone although i feel the hooker 9/15 is dam close, recently tested both on my full limited sj, I do have mag pump which may change loading compared to stock the 10/16 was just to much and wouldn't let me get into high rpms so it actually slowed me down, tried a smaller cone with it that helped it unload but had cavatation issues, 9/15 opend up throttle range and curve and stays planted, I run mid 50's mph at 5,000ft which I would think put me in 60's at sea level and still has that arm jerking feel out of the whole. I don't know to many around here with 144 pumps that don't have 9/15's.
