Hooker pitches for strokers

OK, so 6mm spaced prop - no good, still too tall. I tossed in the shorty cone, and it brought things down a tiny bit, but not enough. I'm thinking I'm going to end up at an 11-17 (or a 10-16), no spacers, stock cone.

Like Phillip Clemmons said, there's a bunch of tuning involved to get it just right.

matt, whats you engine setup?

Having issues getting mine off....................arggggggggggggg Will try again once Isabella goes down.

Let me put your pump in my ski, I will start my ski, rev it out and kill it w/the t/l switch-then u will hear clang clang clunk. Ask me how I know. LOL I have done my Hooker 3 times that way now! I no longer shut engine off by the t/l switch while ski is on trailer. LOL (until the next time I do it).

And not alot of people like the way my ski 'runs out' sooooo fast. It has done about all it's going to do in 100'. (which is what I like).

Do you gain alot of low end pull with the stubby cone to justify the "run out" so quick.I may try a bigger bored nozzle first.I dont ride top end very much, but when I do this hooker just seems to keep pullin to sick fast speeds, kinda fun once in awhile, but Id try the bigger nozzle or cone if the gain down low was substantial with the 10/16

Major Improvement

My ski becomes a turd with the stk cone in it on the bottom and mid.

interesting,I got the nozzle bored to 85.5 today, will give it a shot this week.My pump is a ported hp race pump.it flows a good bit more than the stocker.the pump reference guide on here somewhere is pretty helpfull also, lotta hooker stroker setups listed there as well

gil.whats your complete setup. you running a single carb?

Let us know what you end up with. If two people who are running big stroker motor are running 10-16 and 9-15 then my 9-15 prop is going back to impros to get repitched down some.

My situation is slightly different. My ports are 0.5mm taller than *most* freestyle port jobs, I do NOT have powervalves, and I'm running a relatively dry 'b' pipe mod chamber. All of those variables cause my motor to have an abrupt power increase when it get's on the pipe. That's what makes finding the right prop so difficult. I need a prop that hardly loads the engine below 5000 RPM, but after 5000 RPM really stuffs it. My 13-16 concord was close. It still loaded the pump a tiny bit too much just off idle, and was on the verge of slipping once the power came on.

gil, other than enhancer ign I run a very sim setup,I bored my nozzle to 85.5 and it did make a diff in mid range pull,it was already jumpin out of the water with the stock nozzle off idle so it was hard to tell there, but low to mid range pull was deff better with the 10/16 and 85.5,it was not running out fast either, still fast up top.I did raise the exh ports over most freestlye setups so that prolly helps.

That sounds like I'll be close with a 10-16 (which I'm borrowing from Harrison this week). Good info.

Yes... Im waiting for some feedback on HOOKERS but thanks anyway.

gera

Gera, I would save yourself a bunch of trouble and call or e-mail Dave at impros. He helped me figure out that a 10-16 hooker would do the job, and he was dead on. Every engine set-up is different, and I think Dave does a pretty good job figuring out how best to get the power to the water.

Dave does an outstanding job of getting you the right pitch for your particular needs. I have dealt with him for years and he has never steered me wrong. Impros all the way.

NON STROKER TS 771cc 11/17 Hooker with stubby cone no bored exit nozzle, I would like to try the variation of bored exit nozzle with stubby and then with oem cone to see what the difference is....

Anyone have a hooker recommendations for 1000cc dasa on 46 mikunies, pfp, enhancer, skat 144mag

I have an 11/17 on the shelf if you wanna try it out. The SS865 runs it out pretty quick so it may be too short for a 1000cc but it could be a cheap baseline for you to start from.
