house fire

same happened when Anita left the tailgate down on my avalance, my tool bag, rubbermaid container with full riding gear all fell out, a guy stopped her and told her about it, she went back and found a slippery boot. Luckily the cop at her school's wife had been driving by and saw someone picking the stuff up, not knowing that we had lost it. Next day he went to Anita and told her. We were able to file a "Theft of Lost Property" claim. Honest claim ended up being almost $1,300.00 worth of tools and gear. I was shocked. I later found 2 or 3 tools that I thought were in there, but found some missing that I later realized was in there. Oh Well, it was a pain to figure out what all was there, finding the price of replacement or figureing out what it was worth.

Thanks for the support & offers guys, means alot to us. I have an advance check coming from the ins co tomorrow. :grouphug:
I've been wearing my tennis shoes to work with my khakis. Looked like a used car salesman the last couple of days!

If you need some pink chairs, let me know.
LOL! I know yours are near & dear to you, I could not ask for one.

So, how would you rate your step son's cooking?
NOT TOO GOOD!!! I swear that kid has a black cloud over him. He's been to Iraq once or twice when in the Marines, but been out of the military for about 2.5 years. In that time he has: totaled his car in a wreck that was his fault, smashed & sank my sitdown loaner ski on an under water object, and now mostly burned down my house. I asked my wife, WHAT'S NEXT?!?!? When we move back in, I told her it needs to be just us 2 again. He needs to 'make other arrangements'.

Just an update. My house is old and would be out of code since it is now in a high risk flood zone and does not have the 'Hurricane resistant' required anchors, strapping, etc. They would have to tear it all down and raise the slab up a foot or so. Insurance won't cover all the code upgrades, so I would have alot of out of pocket expenses. Even if I did this, I'd end up with the newest, nicest home in the ghetto and could not make much if I sold it. AND I would have to deal with all the headaches from dealing with the contractor and ins adjustor.

So, looks like I'll be taking the check for the value of the home, having ins co tear it down & haul off, paying the $5600 extra to pay off the mortgage. Then hopefully sell my 1 acre lot with a 21x40 shop, well pump & block pumphouse, and septic seperate. for may $25k to $40k ...and start looking for a new house. I did not like that neighborhood anyway.

Sorry Andy. But like you said, you didn't like the neighborhood anyway. Did you figure out what happend to your ski last weekend? Did you hear about Jim? Out for 8-12 weeks, landed on his shoulder while skateboarding and just got out of surgery a few days ago.

I think a piece of the crank came apart, but I have not torn it down yet. Guess I need to finally get off my behind & put together the ADA 4.5mm stroker engine.
For Jim, that means about a month off. :) He needs to just stick to the water!

I'll post a vid when the guys come out to Demo the house.

Good luck. I can't imagine the stress of all this. I hope this works out for the best.

Christin had her car stolen once, and I have a bunch of stuff stolen out of a Suzuki Sidekick once but none of that compares to this level.

A friend of mine told me the damage did not look all that bad in the pics, so I thought I'd add a few more.
