Thanks for all the comments, I've been working on my editing skills with Quicktime so the video doesn't show what happened next, basically a couple minute swim back to the ski which had been pushed by the last wave in toward shore.

Couldn't start the ski as it had sucked water in the carbs so I caught a tow back to shore....I was alone when I got swamped, but not for long as there were about 10 other guys out there....Corson's is a popular spot when Hurricanes are offshore :veryhappy:

Well at least you got the ski back... it could have been worse.

Glad your ok. Sometimes you just gotta bail. For me the funny part was when you grabbed the seat and flipped it around like a boogie board and started paddling. Did you get it started and finish your ride ???

Glad you are ok. I like the calm "ohh chit  !" at about 34 seconds when the wave was about to break on you.

The rule of thumb is never let go but in the surf some times you have to kick it away. If you are under the ski it is better keep the ski close and hold on. You dont want the ski landing on you uncontrolled. If you are up right its better to kick it away then land on it awkward from high up.

damn... this just happened today except worse. the ski is still floating in the ocean. bay constable and coast guard out there. they weren't too happy. wouldn't tow the ski in.

Ski sunk and the break was too big to get back through the inlet without killing us. They were 8-10's and curling. would have been a dream for the surfers but very dangerous to tow a downed ski through. There will be vid to follow. Two guys had helmet cams rolling the whole time.

the rolls and backies beforehand were fun as hell though.

not me. Another guy we ride with. There is a squarenose bobbing out in the ocean right now.
Just got home, the bay constable towed the wammer in cause he ran out of gas, steve(wammer hull) and kevin(square) had to get picked up at the constable's place.

I made Kevin throw out his crappy ass tow rope and then one of the other guys ran it over. he was able to make it back to where we store the gas cans and it crapped out too. I had to tow him back to the ramp.

the tide is heading out now, it pulled us out about half a mile before the coast guard showed up. The ski will be out in the atlantic before long.

the problem was we were riding the backside of where they were breaking. To get home through the inlet you had to go back through the break that was at least 6-10 waves deep. If I tried to tow the ski in there would have been two downed skis and we both probably would have been severely hurt or killed. Had to make the decision to ditch the ski and let him go back in on the boat.

my ski was my baby too my one love that never talks back lol but sometimes its me or the ski lol. And that moment i choose myself heheheh
