how cold is the water then?

its real unpredictable. I would say yes, you'll need one, last year was cold. then again it wasnt 100 degrees today last year. The ocean is extremely warm right now, but that could change drastically in a weeks time. So to answer your question, yes, you will most likely need a wetsuit unless the water is freakishly warm.

last year was cold the first day and nice the next so bring what you have and if we are lucky we wont need anything.

I rode till around that time in october last year and your fine with one full wetsuit. The ocean stays warm for a while.
