Super Jet How did you decide where to put your footholds?

I'm thinking about putting footholds in my SN 650. Looking at all the pics most people put theres way towards the back of the tray. But for me that isn't comfy with my short arms. I'd prefer to have them almost at the front. Any thoughts?

footholds are supposed to be as far back as humanly possible, just like the pole mounting on the nose of the ski. you get more leverage to crank the ass end around in back. footholds in the front of the tray and you aint going to move the ass end one bit.plus, your ankles get hammered hitting the sides of the tray if your feet arent way out back. i suggest totally modifying the gun wales / lowering them or just keep your heels at the end on the tray.

thats not entirely true.

in a SN SJ, sure, towards the back.

in a small boat like an XFR, Foot Rocket, or the rest, more towards the middle of the tray works better, keeps you centered, and lets you land clean with out dropping a foot off the back.

X2 In a SN as far back as possible, but short aftermarket hulls are a different story

Wamiltons told me in the instruction for installing Rickters. But basically they are at the back of the tray.

You must be standing at the rear edge of a long hull to get the nose up, or have a trim system. I find footholds to be great at slow speeds and uncomfortable at high speeds. They are the best for nose stabs and going upside down. If you dont do these things install full length slots. They are very comfortable in all conditions and still keep you in the tray when jumping.

I haven't had trouble getting the nose up with my feet in the holds and am pretty comfortable riding with my feet in the holds at most riding speeds.

I would like to try full length slots but my holds are in and the tray has mat on it so I don't want to cut it all up yet. Maybe when I eventually have to re-foam.
