Freestyle How do these custom freestyle hull compair to regular hulls at higher speeds?

I was wondering how the custom ricketers, malones and others behave at higher speeds, can they run like a race ski if the impellers are changed to higher pitch?
Are they less stable?
Are they practable for regular rip across the lake riding?
What kind of top speeds do they have vs others.
I don't know much about them and am suprised by the amount of them for sale.
Thanks
Don

Its all about how well you can ride. Rookies & keyboard-cowboys can't WOT aftermarket hulls. Guys that have dozens of hours on a hull will do it no problem.

First time i used my contour gps camera and played back the vid, i was suprised to see my superfreak doing close to 59mph and still pretty stable, its a -4.3 with a long ride plate, it wont carve a turn flat out, but will carve pretty good once you get used to the body english req to do it.

To generally answer your question, you will find that most freestyle boats (one variable) are made for the purpose they were intended to do, freestyle. The shorter and smaller the hull, generally speaking, the harder it would be to go at top speed. But as DK pointed out there are variables.
But the times l have rode rn sj and 750 kawis, they are a little loose on the nose (for me) at high speed.Others will say they love the ride of these skis and have no problem riding them at faster speeds. The fx1 is the same way, high speed you can do,just don't lean to one side and catch a chine. And these are factory made boats.
Weight is another factor.Take a bare rn sj,which is around 130 lbs will diffidently stay down better than a a/m that weights 49-65 lbs.
And you find a number opinions that are given can be somewhat conflicting.XJCrawler probably gave the best post:"You just need to try them" if at all possible.

If you want to try some aftermarket hulls next spring, there's a lot in Alberta. Gen2 and gen3 bobs, a rickter xfs, wdk rev, rickter fs1, trinity matrix. There's also suppose to be a super freak, eme q8 and an Ariel 8 coming this winter and a foot rocket to Saskatchewan

I've tried a few hulls. The only one I had some trouble with at speed was a BOB Gen1. Superfreak, Q8, BOB Gen 2 rode just fine at speed.
My own Superfreak probably in the high 50's, low 60's - and much better than a SJ at that speed.

Good example to back up what Matt is saying. One guy rode and xfs, tried to do at speed, experienced rider, didnt like it. Another guy bought one and in one day says he can go flat out and loves it. Less experienced rider

my footrocket carves harder, slides easier, and has less chinewalk than my sj with tubbi3s. really surprised that it was easier to ride fast than a stock hull, not about practice it was automatic. now would i want to race it? hell no, it wants to jump out of the water, but with a deep intake and super long tail plate i dont see why not.

Where would one get to try all these at one place? In Alberta?

Best thing you can do is this:

1. Figure out what you want from an aftermarket hull. What's your style of riding and what do you hope to accomplish by going a/m.
2. Figure out your budget. Be honest. How much are you willing and able to spend?
3. Try as many a/m hulls as possible that fit 1 & 2.
4. Make your decision.

At any of the freerides as well. Great places to make new freinds have fun and ride everything. If your not a jerk and bust peoples stuff that you cant afford to replace. :)

Daytona is next, but there are closer rides to you and may be more to your local riding style

Just approach the owners, say what you're after, and just about every one of them will let you ride it.
I know I would (and always have).

Not sure why my last post was removed but will try again. If I did something wrong I would like to know what it was.
All I asked was where could a person try so many skis in on place in alberta?
I did'nt think there were that many.

You mean this post?

Where would one get to try all these at one place? In Alberta?

Thanks guys beleave it or not your answers are very helpful.
Here is my story I'm hoping to buy a secend used ski this spring.
I have rode and owned a old kawi 440, 650sx, 750sxi, F-15 Lazerjet, and a 96 round nose superjet. all were piped and head but not overly aggresive. Been riding about 30 years on almost stand ups only. Wife has a 98 sea doo xp limited.
Just sold the lazer and need a replacement and my son will take the old superjet for now.
The guys I ride with we play around with everything from racing across a lake wide open to trying freestyle stuff and sometimes boueys, Even got to the surf several times, Not bad for living in the praries.
Anyway I am sure I would be happy with a superjet as long as it has alot of punch to it. Would consider one of the customs if the price was right but not a must have, Getting to the age where a backflip might not be possable but would probbaly still try it.
I don't get to ride as much as I would like because of work but even after a year off it was like riding a bike to me.
Im 6ft and about 210 pounds so I dont know how that affects riding the shorted pole ski's.

Any way thaks for the feedback guys.

It doesn't, I'm 6'4" 220 and have no problems on my Gen3. I'm sure were going to do an early spring ride as soon as the ice lifts somewhere in central alberta

Honestly, with what you are describing - I think an a/m hull would be money spent unwisely. Get a good Superjet with some bolt-ons or an SXR.
