How do you accept payment/transfer title for shipping skis?

What is the safest way for both parties or the most common method for accepting payment/title transfer for shipped skis?

Do you use a broker for the title transfer or use paypal goods and services for payment exchange?

How is notarizing the title handled?

I have used paypal many times to buy and sell skis. Typically several smaller payment have to be made or received due to the price of the ski. It helps if you have a good reputation on the X so people trust you. Or if a trusted person on the X vouches for you and the condition of the ski. Florida doesnt require titles to be notorized so i just put the signed title in the crate or mail it to the buyer seperately.

I bought my superjet here from a guy in Florida (I live in NC) and he gave the shipping company guy the title which worked out fine. He had rep, I had zero but there was still a trust thing between both parties. In NC the title has to be notorized, just wondering if anyone has any experience that ensures both parties are protected. I guess an escrow service can handle money and title transfer (not sure how escrow handles notarizing)? Any recommendations?
