How do you choose?

Are you wanting to have the hull already turfed painted etc. Basically plug and play. Or are you wanting to get just a bare hull and build and paint yourself (option for saving money.)

Also I did parts upgrade first before my hull upgrade, I wish I didn't. Buy a badass stunt capable hull that you like and build around it. Best way to do it in my opinion.

Thanks, that was my thought. I would rather put money into the hull now and upgrade other items later.

I am not afraid of building a ski and my buddy does killer paint jobs on muscle cars and motorcycles for a living and he said he would hook me up with paint.

Do you chase boats? Want to ride any sort of distance on this new hull? You are going to have to make some compromises if you want to flatwater/boat chase/surf as all 3 are different enough that there isn't really a hull that is 100% ideal for all 3 at once, other than maybe a T1. As someone else mentioned, super lightweight carbon hulls are what you want for flatwater freestyle, but not what you want for surf etc.

Superfreak Badass's and T1's seem to be the best hybrid hulls that do everything well. But with that said, i am leery of taking my Badass in the surf due to the light carbon build. But its the best boat chaser/freeride/freestyle hull I have ridden and that seems to be popular opinion. Glass -4.3 badasses are very good surf hulls but a little heavy to be a true flatwater hull.

If I was buying a dedicated flatwater hull with your budget I personally would go DVX > Phantom > Circus

If I was buying a "do it all" hybrid I would buy a superfreak (you wont find a T1 in your price range most likely, they are very rare still)

If i was buying a surf dedicated ski id prolly get a Rickter Edge or Glass Superfreak (this is just based off of reading, I have never rode surf so take this recommendation with a large dose of salt)

Thanks for the reply. I have never ridden in the surf and don’t think I will be getting heavy into it. I live 15 minutes from a few smaller lakes that I visit frequently but live about 3 hours from the surf.

I am planning to keep my super jet if I plan to do any riding.

I have never ridden a freestyle hull. I’m assuming that they are not good for boat chasing because they are not a good hull for ripping around the lake? Is that because they just walk around and become very unstable or the prop is setup for hole shots?

Thanks for all the help. I’m trying to learn more about the hulls so I can make the right choice.

if u go to a supermarket .....and have to choose your cereal based on the outside package u would miss all the good ones .....

I would spend the money, go to world finals , talk to several ski /shop owners and test ride them .....

Nice! I have only been to Daytona freeride was talking to Tony from tigercraft. I did not know you could test ride hulls at the shows. I will have to look up some events. I would love to try some out, which is why I’m overwhelmed on these websites. There are so many options and it’s hard to choose one buy looking at pictures and descriptions

I have an M-1 I am in buffalo. There are a couple guys out in Syracuse that I ride with some times. Might be worth it to set something up and you could get on it. Honestly it’s an awesome hull.

I would love that. Do you know when you guys are meeting back up?
