long term storage for the winter is less crucial than weekly storage between rides especially if being used in salt weekly. developing surface rust internal in motor,as motor cools it draws in moisture through exh and water box, even if blow out, still pulls moisture through intakes. will condense on crank and up through bore. not to mention salt crustties on everything else and eating lunch on motor mounts

last two years I take out the motor after I'm sure it is dry as balls and store it in the garage. The hull can get covered in snow for all I care. If cables and such aren't moved when frozen there is no damage possible. I do the best I can but sometimes you can't hide from winter. That said as long as moving parts are kept from freezing and or not moved while frozen you are basically good as these things are watercraft. Tarps and bungees avoid direct snow/rain contact.

Exactly why I fog out often, especially this time of year. Motor is hot and you put it away in cold air, water condenses and rusts up your bearings quick.

Couple shots of fogging oil down the carbs on the last blips of the throttle to blow out water box and the engine is protected.

Absolutely better to fog. Has no effect on fouling plugs if you are tuned right also. I run the same plugs for months.

Just a little smoky is all. I do my first start up at the gas station instead of my house so I don't fog out the neighbors.

I start my ski 2x a week in addition to riding, do you think it's better to fog between rides instead?
better to fog for a few reasons,1st once you fog you dont have to remember to or deal with starting ski 2 more times. 2nd every time you start and heat the motor up in cool environment,as it cools it pulls in the moisture and condenses it on your crank and cylinder. it does not take very long for surface rust to begin to build in that condition especially if you still have a bit of salt water in your pipe and box, depending on how hard you rev it clearing it out.salt carries in condensing, evaporating salt water.ever seen the salt crusties around the edges of a salt water fish tank with heat evaporation?
Ive seen so much moisture on plugs next day you would swear you had a blown headgasket...nope just condensing moisture.

I have seen moisture drops on my plugs many times over the years on my salt skis. I always figured I got water in there while flushing. This makes sense. Fogging it is!

Mine and wifes has been sitting for 2 years with the hoods cracked. I did crank it a couple weeks ago though just to move the pistons to a new spot.
