How long have you been riding?

I rode my buddies 550 in 1987. I bought my first 550sx in 91. Ive owned 550,650,750, and 800, sea doo hx, yamaha superjet, kawi 15f, and now im waiting on my new tigercraft. 47 and going strong
Which skis do you like most out of all those, for what types of riding? Are the Superjets really all the Yamaha fanboys say they are for general riding? Is the sxr as superior for carving as my other senior expert buddies claim they are over even a SXi Pro?

Mainly surf riding. The sxi pro was a good riding hull. I had a wamilton 800 hull that was very fun. It was about the same weight as my sj . I really like the superjet platform. The yamaha engines have a little better bottom end hit. If i was doing general river riding i would of kept the wamilton 800 hull

started riding at 8 on parents 650sx

about high school the two 650s got beat to heal and i bought a RN around 2003 when i started working full time

Lots of free ride and surf ridding

2006 started racing sxr limited

built a SXR951, Superjet 1200 and a Stunt hull..... sold everything around 2010.

Just picked up a 2015 Phantom this week and cant wait to learn how to flip it.

I'll play - started about 93/94 on rental 750SX's - yes kids, back in the day they used to rent standups hourly....! There was a rental shack on the bay next to the restaurant I was a barback in & I would wash all the skis in exchange for free ride time, started on the standups & that morphed into the B1's which I actually prefer.

First ride was around 1983 on a 1981 440 that my cousiin owned. He moved and left it with me cause it needed some work and I still have it today. Also have a 2007 SXR too. 48 years old and still standing !!!

Started off 2012, 12 years old
Dad's 89 650sx
Now/ my only personal a 96 superjet
White lake, mi started there and still there
17 year old now... not too many other teenagers on the threads?

1.5 summers on a 750 SX
1.5 summers on a RN SJ
and just picked up an FS2 evo1 to finish up my 3rd year riding
trying my friends FX1 3 years ago sure got expesnive fast..

Bought a slighlty modded SXR800 and got it planed on my knees the first few times I rode it and was instantly in love with it. I stood up for the first time two days ago and was amazed that I could ride it but frightened to turn. Went back the next day and the water was rough so I got plenty of experience falling, but now confident that I can actually stand up. I am overweight and 65 years old but full of passion. I have never felt better physically in my life since getting the workout that this wonderful machine provides. I am more passionate than ever now and want to learn how to turn and where to weight my feet. Any advice would be appreciated and I AM an OLD dog who can still learn new tricks!!

Got my first boat, a 10' sailing dinghy, when I was 13 yrs old.
At 15 I picked up a 16' Hobie Cat.
At 23 I bought a 17' Searay with a 4 cyl I/O & learned how to waterski, wakeboard & ride an AirChair. I met a guy who had a Superjet & rode it a few times.
At 33 I bought a 94 Mastercraft 205 with a SBC 350. Learned several inverted tricks on the wakeboard & AirChair. And converted to ride Skyskis.
Somewhere in here I learned to hate PWCs. They were unpredictable, swerving all over, & too often got too close to our skiers.
At 43 I bought a 05 Malibu Vride with an EFI 350 in it. My foil tricks got bigger & bigger till I was in my late 40s. But I had less friends to ride with. Older friends would only ride in great water & hot weather. Younger friends weren't into riding the foil.
At 48 a guy moved in around the corner from us. He had two 550SXs that he had restored & gladly let us ride them.
So at 49 I bought my first, an 87 JS550. Rebuilt the top end, painted it & rode the hell out of it.
Then last spring I bought a 94 550SX. Sold the JS shortly after & have a few things planned for the SX this winter.
Next month I'll be 52. Still have a big backroll & front roll on a foil. Still have the Malibu. But the SX got way more hours on it this year.
On the look out for a 94 or 95 Superjet. Then I'll sell the SX.

couches since 10/11. First standup (JS550 sadly) at 16/17. 650sx for two years and then aftermarket hulls and SXRs since 20. No more sitdowns, unless I am looking for a donor motor :)

Started at 46. 47 now. Had about 4 hours total. 3 on JS440 and 1 on FX1. Long enough to know what the lake tastes like and watch my, naturally good at every damn thing he tries, mate get much better than me. Started MX 2 years earlier.
Not sure I want to backflip, at the moment I would just be happy to stay standing up for a few laps.

1996, bought my first 550sx (modified that and rode it until it cracked in half, literally).
1993 squarenose (Surf ski, modified and rode that until it was waterlogged and beat to death).
2015 Gen3 Bob (rode surf on that for a few years, it was fun for a bit, but I needed a proper surf ski).
2016 Tigercraft Aquabot v2 (current surf ski, love it and keep tweaking it each season).
I have ridden a ton, of friends skis on a regular basis (SXR's, FX1's, fullmod RN race ski's, too many 550s to list, chopped superjet surf hulls, WDK Rok, Rokr's, Rickters XFR, XFS, Footrockets, Even though I mostly ride surf, I still love smashing turns on a bouy course and I really want to ride a Triple Race ski sometime).
Total years riding=22 years or so ride time and 41yrs old.

Only been Into stand up skis about 2 full season now. Grew up with a 3 seater 2 stroke in the family outvatbthe cabin starting when i was about 10 years old. moved on to taking it out by myself and eventually having some really good wrecks in open water pushing the limits including one where i was ejected over the bars and sent the cluster cowel and mirror to Davey Jones locker(dad was pissed hahaha). Would take it out every now and then from about 12 years old til I was about 26 but I was more into fishing at the time.

My stand up addictions started about 2 years ago at 26 when a buddy randomly purchased an FX1 and was like " youve gotta try this thing". Four days after trying it I was the proud new owner of 750sx with every mod imaginable. Was it the right ski for me? Probabaly not because I didn't know what kind of riding I was getting into but it was a good start and never let me down for a full summer.

Realised I was more into freeride than buoys so I sold the kawi and hunted down a 2007 superjet. Added holds grate prop plate steering etc and rode it all last summer. It's been a great ski but I still wanted a little more. My GF was really into riding it and still is so this was a great excuse to upgrade and buy a 2nd ski.

Came across a local FS2 with a 701 and headed out for a test ride. Immediately realised how much better i liked the feel of an AM hull and purchased the rickter that day.

Spent the end of last season riding the Rickter and haven't looked back.

Some times i still think I want a lighter ski with more power but between my 10 other hobbies you can't do everything %100 and the FS2 is still a great ski for my skill level and riding style.

I'm now 28 and don't see myself getting out of skis anytime soon!
