How many people want a factory pipe !

There is already large orders pending form places like Blowsion and RIVA. The issue is that Factory Pipe doesn't care because the B-Pipes are nothing to them.

im tempted to buy one and skibum it. This crap happens every year! Cant be too hard; sand cast 2 parts and make a chamber mold. Im actually surprised nobody has done it yet. I know of at least 3 builds that are not on the water because of FP.

I feel like it would be tough to get an outside casting company to do them just because of how many people have orders with places like blowsion or riva. But maybe it's possible we just gotta get a decent size list together im sure they will do it if theres enough money in it for them

I had definitely been thinking about just making a copy I keep seeing all these threads of people trying to buy one. If like 10 people would commit to buy I would put some work into a "t" pipe lol. Maybe even cad up a 66e manifold option too since I already have the layout for that.

I mean if someone wants to make a copy and its just as good and its a full kit im in lol but I feel like to get everything with a good chamber and everything it would be tough

I honestly think Factory Pipe needs to nearly double the price of the full kit. PowerFactor kit is twice the price and if they got good money for b pipes they would probably make a run. Think about how little margin there is in an 800 kit. Casting two double wall parts, machining in a fixture, pressure testing, stamping chambers, trimming stamping, welding, pressure testing, coating, sourcing kit components, cutting cooling lines, packaging components, boxing up the kit,,, it all takes time. Oh yeah, and paying skilled labor to do it all.

Yeah the Powerfactor chamber is double wall but casting manifolds and head pipes is tricky business. Casting 100 parts doesn’t net 100 parts, voids and porosity in the casting is common. They won’t sell a leaking part and there is a lot more rejects that go in the scrap bin than you would think.

if I ever get a minute I would really like to cad one up and get some casting and stamping quotes. Were there any other pipes that compared to the factory pipe though? I feel like you could design a more manufacturable pipe and just use electronic water injection these days to get a pipe that was cheaper to make and the same or better performance. I know some race classes don't allow EWI but I don't know how many people actually want them for racing anymore anyway

nynja did this a few years ago and got slammed for copying factory pipes' design. b pipes are nice but not the absolute best pipe out there. the laydown pipes make quite a bit more power and are readily available, and at this point are not much more money

Nynja didn't copy factory pipe's design, they copied TNT's design, and by most accounts not very well.

The appeal of a B-pipe is everything else other than performance. Anybody who is after the max possible performance will use a lay down pipe or one of the up and over superjet pipes, but B-pipes perform decent and are the easiest to live with

fit with stock tank (so good fuel capacity)
can use stock waterbox (so quiet)
up and over loop almost eliminates water injestion
fits in pretty much any hull
not a lot of weight hanging off of the motor doesn't have issues with cracking or lining up extra lord mounts
relatively speaking, very reliable and trouble free
lightweight
relatively out of the way and easy to access the rest of the engine compartment
relatively cheap

decent performance.

If somebody wants to make an alternative it would have to check all of those boxes to be successful. It would be hard to do with anything that doesn't look a lot like the existing B-pipe.

and if a new b pipe was made (looked sames) with the tune spec of the type9/power factor People would complain it didn’t perform as well!

They only copied the chamber. If anything they improved on the bpipe manifold and headpipe by increasing the diameter from 44mm to 50mm.
