How many SJ does Yamaha Make a Year?

Interesting read....How about know by the serial number??? The question came up because I saw the last three digits of my Stand up and thought if this was a newer in production line one or older one at #314....its a 2014 sj

Whatever they used to make every year, that changed back in what, 2012 or 2013? That's when they announced that they were going to throttle back the number of units produced and sold in the US from something like 2500 to 250. Those limited units were to be sold through dealerships only and then only to licensed race teams for competition use only. Thankfully there have been plenty of loopholes and the average Joe doesn't seem to have a problem getting their hands on one.

Supposedly this all had to do with meeting EPA emissions requirements. Not every single produced watercraft had to meet emissions but they were only allowed a small percentage of overall sales to be less than spec and I think the 2-stroke's fell into this category. They chose to reduce the amount sold rather than stop production all together like Kawasaki did.

It's well documented here in numerous threads as it was all the hot topic at the time. Lot's of speculation in the following threads but also a couple articles and published details.
