you don't need very much at all. Just a very thin coat between the case halves and be careful not to use a lot near seal areas so that 1211 doesn't get in the crank bearings.

Some say coat the cylinder base gasket, while others don't.

You can use 1211 for a bunch of other uses also... like installing bypass fittings on the cylinder head and b-pipe head pipes.

I am about to put my case halfs together on my sxr and was wondering if I should put a lil 1211 on the crank seals. They are used, but seem fine.

Still using my old crank, I just had to split the cases because I had some chunks of gasket down there from tearing down my top end.

When sealing case halves, i always just use my finger to rub it around in a thin film. Some people like to 1211 the seals, others don't. I personally 1211 the crank seals. I don't use it on any other gaskets until I fail a pressure test. If I do, then I will put 1211 on both sides of the gasket.

DJ, I would use 1211 on your seals simply because they aren't brand new and soft/squishy. You should still only need a thin film.
