Other How much $$$ have you spent on impellers over the years?

I recently sent off a used 140mm Skat Swirl C75 impeller for what I thought was going to be an $80 repitch and got back a bill for $154. Turns out it was out of tolerance and needed the outer edge welded up as well.

Granted it looks like a brand new impeller now so I guess it's worth the $150 I paid for it last year plus the $154 rebuild but man that's a tough pill to swallow for a used impeller. Got me to thinking about how much $$ I've invested in impellers over the years.

How much do you guys think you have invested over the years? How much do you currently have on the shelf?

I don't really need to see numbers, just providing a place to rant in common. :banghead:

Prolly in the $1-1.5k range. 13/16's, slim lines, hookers, and mags and mag repitching.

A bit hard to guess - I've bought four impellers brand-new, all Skat. So that's about $1,100. Probably $1,000-ish. I've acquired another 2-3 impellers with pump purchases, so those are harder to quantify.
That 140mm that was out of spec wasn't one I sold you, was it?

Nope, the 13/18 I bought from you almost yanked my wife's arms off and left her floating in the cold river the first time she grabbed the throttle. In retrospective, I guess I should have warned her that it may have a bit more thrust than before, lol. I also had a 14/19 that was too tall so I had it repitched to 14/18 to find a happy medium. Maybe the clearance was the issue all along...

Speaking of impellers, I got a beautiful big hub that has a bit of scoring on the edges from rubbing. And debating if I should send it in or just dremmel off the flat spot. Opinions?

I think under 500 for me (and maybe another 250 shipping pumps to Impros to have props removed!)....I hit the jackpot with the Solas 13/16-3mm and never even needed to look in to others. I did aquire some others through pump purchases (14.5/18.5...booooo!) and I did try one brand new Hooker 10/16 with a big motor I tried.

I agree the solas 13/15 to 13/18 3 mill cut is a fantastic prop for alot of motors, prolly way more than most people realize.with the popularity of the large hub hooker, the concord is prolly the best deal out there in used props for stock pumps right now

If it's been rubbing it should be rewelded. 1/4mm wear (0.010") will reduce performance noticeably. 1/2mm loss of diameter will give you the "slipping clutch syndrome"
Further the affiant sayeth not

I hate the slip you feel with the Solas Concorde props. Prefer the Skat Freeride over the Solas and the Hooker over both. I could run a Skat again and be happy.

Only Solas I have ever ridden and liked was on Parrdaddy's SJ hull, he had the nozzle and cone setup dialed. That the only solas that I never felt the slip

Any time Solas 13/xx-3mm is even type is should be followed by "85mm" nozzle and "stock cone" IMO. That package kicks arse!!

I've got 2 extra Skat long nose c75 mag props, 10/18 & 14/19 on the shelf and 9/17 in on my surf boat
Got a extra c75 9/17 for stock pump.
Back in 05 I tested a solas dynafly 14/22 cut back and never like how the boat preformed. Went to skat and never looked back
I got all my Skat's new for Skat in less than 2 weeks,. The solas I got from impros and waited like a month for it.
