Got most of the foam out now, just right around the exit for steering, water lines, etc next to the pump box.And a good work out with a wire wheel. The serrated knife is your friend.l did all of the removal with it.You just have to be very careful around the lines.l have used a knife before but l could not get the hull outside this time without freezing my azz off,so decided to try this way.l liked doing this way, just hope it will be a while before l do another one.
The foam was totally soaked about 2 1/2 inches up from the bottom. What a total fuggin hack job on the holds. Some folks just don't need to get out of bed.

Lots of progress this past weekend.Got the foam in and footholds installed. Now ready to go back and do what l started to do "A TURF JOB,DAM!"

My process was to build the foam back up,shape the new foam for fitting the holds and somehow reinforce where there was nothing.l took 18 oz biaxl glass and give myself a lip on the rear downward slope of the gunwales and also a strip of glass on the front edge for the foothold.Bake over night.
l mixed up some thickened epoxy,as well as some resin.Epoxied a piece of glass under the hold with excess coming out on the tray of the ski. This was done to add support underneath. then pop riveted the rear and front of the foothold to the ski with a glob of thickened between it and the ski. Then some 18 oz glass behind the entire hold inside. And more 18 oz on the outside edge around the hold.
So at this point it feels solid. The only area l don't feel good about is the rear of the gunwales. There was just nothing much to attach too.Time and use will tell.

I was wondering what you were going to do with the edge of the holds since you cut so close to the paint on the outside of the hull. That looks like it worked pretty good.

You just cabosil'ed and riveted the old hold to that little strip you built?

Bruce,l am only correcting a problem a shop created a few years ago.Look at post #16.The previous install guy only left a 1/4" lip on the left side and maybe 1/8 on the right.Didn't have much of a choice on the rear of the hold! But l think the whole repair will make the thing strong.Plus the foam will stabilize it.But,l will say that the rear of the gunwale concerns me.That is the weak point.
