I know this would be elaborate and difficult to put into place, but it would be cool if you could have a remote kill switch. Either mount it to your ski or have it on a remote from shore. Or if they ride too far away, it kills the ski. They have to swim it back into range for it to start back up lol. "That'll teach'em!"

This topic is very relevant for me. I'd like to get my kids started out doing things but i'm nervous about what age to start them out. Not so much for the legal reasons, but for their own well being/ safety.

Aside from the legal, and common sense issues, can your child actually handle the ski? I put my 10 yr old daughter on my SXR- thinking she could for sure ride that barge. Unfortunately she is very slim so her weight couldn't off set the weight of the fuel, as soon as she tried to accelerate, the ski would plow and then start to sub. I had to empty the fuel down to the reserve level before she could ride the dang thing.

I hear you John, It was interesting to watch how the ski turns and handles with a ultra light rider , our test pilot could flat spin 180 with a half throttle , the turns were flatter as well . Trim was even throughout the speed range .

My 10 year old rides just fine. Freak, rev, superjet, blaster, whatever. But his mom and I argue about letting him because she doesn't want to teach him that it's ok to break the law just because we disagree with it.

As an adult I try not to let laws get in the way of common sense fun within reason , especially considering the bulk of the group that sit around making them . My wife is more law abiding and it can be fun at times getting our points across to each other as well , Shane.
