How the H*ll do you keep UMI steering Tight?

My kit came with THREE O-rings (large, small, and VERY small, like 3/4"
in diameter). I'm not sure where that third small one is supposed to go.
The instructions and diagram do not show or mention this O-ring.
Anyone know?

Just throw it in the tool box the bearings will get water in them even if you use new o rings and a ton of grease. I can't wait till mine takes a dump so I have to switch back to stock.

crush the top of the nut in a vise works every time !~!! I have 3 running crushed nuts and NEVER had one come loose !! Simple, cheap, non threating, cake to adjust.. What could be easyer ?
if you drill a hole in your shaft you will need a few holes in the nut unless 1/2 turns work for you and fight a cotter pin.. !
What he said.... x2...

It is not a spare, it is a completely different size than the other two, so I
assume it belongs in there SOMEWHERE.

get two nyloc nuts
put them in the vise
cut of the nylon part
you know have to slim nuts
you can tighten one and use the other as a loc nut
job is done and issue is gone

You don't need the nyloc nuts for that, any two nuts will work as long as they are thin enough to feet the exposed bolt thread.
The lock nut is like the most dependable solution short of welding...

you dont need to use nylocs of course
but they are aleady nice and thin when you cut the nylocc off
its just an easy way to do it

That sounds like the best solution to me Wax. Currently I have the original nut with Red Loctite. The first time it gets loose I will go with the Wax solution.
