How to figure pole length?

Not trying to argue but you can get .070 Dom 20 ft for 60 bucks. Use truck sprig bushings which are plenty strong and hard. Plate steel for cheap and for a person to break a tube weld on a jet ski, that would have to e some extremely serious ghetto fab.

I know they are, thats why I listed a thin wall DOM steel, to cut the weight down and still have strength. I agree that rrp and others are nice, I just wouldnt pay that much for a pole. Im a cheap ass tho. There are some guys on here that make them for much better prices and Id rather give my money to the little guy if I was going to.

I guess i cant say much until I actually get my pole done. Ill post pics when I do.

poles are aluminum for more reasons than weight. there is a reason that parts on skis are billet. CORROSION

there are many reasons to go with a high end pole and there are many reasons that alot of riders who do work in machine shops and do all there own fabrication on everything still spend the money for a nice pole. I could walk out to my garage and make a working steal pole right now in an hour or two but I wont.

what hood??? this does sound like a good basic starting point. Mine are like 2.5" behind the end of the hood when (XMetal Pole) pole is down and it's a WF hood, 1st gen w/ RRP steering and riser bars.

that's why its a general rule. If its close to even with the hoodlatch/dash area you can work from there with your steering plate and bar type/placement to go forwards or back 1~2 inches.

Just a starting point and everyone is shaped differently (height, weight, arm length, strength, back problems) so it needs to be adjusted to the individual.

fixed steering is horrible... totally ruins everything good about a standup IMO

What is fixed steer??
i cut the stock pole on my rn sj 3 inches loved it then cut it a further 5 inches and installed straight rrp bars/steering my back doesnt hurt but i ride in the med so we dont have much surf. generally its flat or choppy and when theres a little swell its hard to stay on the ski when your chasing boats or flat out!! thats the only downside ive found, its definately helped me when trying to do rolls and i find it generally nicer to ride so long as your not WOT!
