I'm picking up a new bendix bushing for my 61x today.
How are these bushings installed ?
Please tell me I don't have to stick the case in the oven and the bushing in the freezer, I don't want to have to split my cases and remove the crank just to heat up my case in the oven to install a new bendix bushing.
Are there any alternatives beside heating it in the oven ?
I just got in from taking my flywheel off my old motor and when I pulled the bendix out of my old motor I could see a real difference in the condition of the brass bushing in my old motor and my new motor.
I must say when the bendix was in my old motor it fit like a glove with no slop or play.
In the newer motor it looks that the person I baught this motor off of had some bendix carnage because not only is the brass bendix bushing worn down but the surrounding area on one side of the brass bushnig has been gouged pretty deep and I don't know if putting in a new brass bushing is going to be good idea with the surrounding area of the case gouged as it is.
Seems like I will never get this thing running, a year in the making.

The first two pics are of the brass bushing in my old blown up motor that I just removed the bendix from.
as you can see it is in good shape.
the last three pics are of the brass bushing in the running motor I got last summer to put in my B1 and as you can see there is some carnage to the brass bushing and carnage to the surrounding area of the case around the brass bushing.
Any helpful input will be greatly appreciated.
