How to lose weight

get pissed off, eat alot and workout as hard as you can for as long as you possibly can. You will be jacked. Thats what my weight liftin buddies do. I am still a semi- chubby wanna be : ) but I can ride better than any of them

All these threads are talking about losing weight and I still haven't seen the answer. As an upcoming sports nutrionist I would like to share some incredible information with all of you on how to lose weight. And here it is...

High fiber. Low Fat. Exercise. Done.


Eat bran cereal, double fiber wheat bread, a delicious shake with plain yogurt, strawberries (keep leaves if fresh) and banana. Really hungry? Eat frozen boneless-skinless chicken, make a deli sandwhich with no cheese.

Do NOT eat pasta, do not eat steak, do not eat power bars, dairy products, or delicious sweets.

As far as exercise goes, do anything. Get a $50 heart rate monitor and do something. As long as your heart rate (for most of you) is above 130, you are burning fat. If you're older, your heart rate might want to be around 140ish. Do this for at least 40 min. a day, 4 days a week for the rest of your life, and you will look good.

Done.
I just tried... I can't eat the frozen chicken... Almost broke a tooth and my jaw muscles are aching (is that a sign of a good workout?)

Trying to loose weight eat 8 diff times a day just smaller portions
Not junk either protien,chicken, fruit stuff like that burgers and stuff like that are ok as long as its earlier in the day.This is a way to keep weight off, unlike not eating which will actually make u gain weight in the long run."slows down your metabolism. But if u need to just loose weight for a short time "weigh ins." Jog alot dont eat and go to a steam room

Same here....all the way through college too... Garbage bags, steam rooms, running the bleachers.....just to make weight (168 then)

Now I swim 1 mile a day because I can't find any other 30 somethings that want to to wrestle. LOL.

Swimming is my new passion man. Its nice looking out the window of the Y and seeing snow when you are in a 86 degree pool. I leveled out at 179 and 3/4 last week....down from 192 a month or so ago. Cheapest 13lbs I have ever shaved off of my ski. ($2.64 a day to be a member of the Y here)
 
Bottom line if you take in more calories than your expending you WILL gain weight. Don't go on a diet to lose weight, you will just gain it all back when you get to where you want to be. It is a lifestyle change. You must change your eating habits and keep them that way. As for the heart rate comment. Do your cardio in the 65% to 75% max heart rate. Meaning a brisk walk. You will burn less calories then running but you will burn more calories from adipose tissue(fat deposit). You would be amazed at how much weight you can lose by cutting calories, processed foods and going for an eveing walk with your wife every night after dinner. Another thing ppl fail to realize is how important the glycemic index is. Food timing is very important....ie, fruit is good for you, not before bed. They are highly glycemic meaning it will spike your insuling levels. no carbs after 5pm. especially not before bed. It will be stored as fat. Eat small palm sized every 2 to 3 hours. It will keep up your metablic rate(the rate at which your body burns calories). Do NOT starve yourself, because the next time your body receives food it will store it as FAT because it goes into defense mode and does not know when it will be fed again. Give yourself weekly cheat meals to help with the mental side of things.

I did not make any of this up. I have been personal training on the side for 9 years with GREAT success with my clients and my fiance is a nutritionist. Losing weight is easy once you get the hang of it. And once you feel that good you do not want to stop.

You have some helpful tips for people but i should make a few corrections. Eating wheat of any kind contributes to the already malabsorbtion most people already face. The gluten within the wheat grain makes a glue like substance throughout your intenstines that is very difficult to absorb nutrients through. Banana's as well have next to no place in our diet, most imported and domestic banana's have a glycemic index value of over 70. This high number means the carbs the fruit contains turns to sugar too quickly high gives an insulin spike to control the sugar levels within the body and shortly after will we will be starving again an hour after. An apple having a GI value of 25 and 6 of more grams of fiber it's an ideal choice. If you like to eat deli meats be sure that they are nitrate free(preservative). Fiber and carbohydrate sources should only come from vegetables. They do not spike blood sugar levels through high amounts of fructose like fruits. If you want to be lean and healthy learn how to control your insulin through diet, exercise a min of 20 mins per day and you will live a long more fulfilling life.

Unless you are taking steriods beating the crap out of your body without giving the proper nutrition and rest only makes it harder for nothing. Gains in the gym can be ultimately chalked up to the race to recover. If your body hasn't repaired enough overnight you're wasting your time.Some people's genetics can allow for gains through over training but most of us do not. If you're not mesomorphic don't kill yourself in the gym unless you know how to eat, rest and train properly. The best gains are made by employing progressive resistance techniques, adequate protein, complex carbs, good fats, a "whole food" multi-vitamin, sufficient rest and proper hydration.
Every exercise we perform can be either categorized by either a pull or a push movement. Train 3 days on, one day off then three days on again but each day only perform push or pull exercises that day. The risk of over tearing your muscles is reduced in a huge way. I developed a program a couple years ago i'll post. Called a 3 and 3 mass program
