When I installed mine I put some rtv around them and slid them into the hole I drilled, then right at the end where the wire is (you will see it when they arrive) I tapped them in with a hammer so they are flush with my hull. I even tested them with air to make sure they actually do seal when in the water and they are air tight in the reverse direct.

If it makes any difference I am going to get the kind with 2-piece aluminum with screw together assembly. Plan is to drill the holes, clean and scuff the surface of the aluminum with sand paper, and install it with gflex epoxy for a more permanent installation that is shock resistant.

I believe the gen2s had closed cell foam and didnt take on water mine didnt take on water id speak to the ski clinic and ask their advice

So I took off those rings and I'm pretty sure I found where it's taking water in.
The scupper and the exhaust are not completely sealed off it has . I also noticed the"drain screw" on the right has a bad thread and was loose.
The left one had a rubber between the screw and the hull but I'm sealing both off.

what is best to seal them off from the outside? would 100% silicone do the job?
I've been wanting to repaint the hull, so I'm going to order a turf kit and autobailers. and maybe add two little versiplugs on the side of the scupper and exhaust just to be safe.
I was thinking since my scupper is blocked off I can kind of block it off at the rear with a versiplug or a "duckbill" plug or however it's called ha

ok, I'll probably get one of those as well.
Yes, the scupper is permanently sealed from the engine compartment.

I just sealed up my tray and relied on regular drains.
