Super Jet How to shorten hull & get the exhaust to line up

I have been trying to search under the "build threads" and haven't really come up with an answer. I'm wanting to cut 3" off of a RN, by doing the slant cut on it. I was wanting to know before I attempted it, what is the proper way to run the exhaust out the back?
If someone could point me to a build thread to show me, maybe a step by step on cutting the slant cut with the exhaust coming out of it. Or just explain it. Is the flange welded on the pipe also?

What are you having trouble with?
If you are glassing the back together at an angle other than what was there before, you'll need to adjust the exhaust tube flange to fit.
That's about all there is to it.

i'm finishing up my hull overhaul and will have a build thread up very soon..... shortened the hull by 3.5 inches, blended tubbies, totally reshaped ssssuper wide tray and adjustable footholds. And the iceing on the cake is this was all done to a 08 hull. Its gonna be awesome in the surf to say the least!

PICS!

This hull hasn't been cut yet. The question was is it possible to line the flange once it's cut, or was there another method that someone has used that might have a better result?

yes. 5200 the $hit outta the inside. Also used liberal amounts of industrial grade 2 part epoxy and glassed over. All work done inside the tray because if you want to be sure its all good it has to b done with the tray cut out. I am also using a custom stainless exhaust tube that has been welded up with a nice 45 to 45 bend because i also lowered the tray and the stock exhaust tube say waaay to high in the gunwale. I also fabbed up some really sweet stainless tray drains. i'll have pictures of all up soon.

Its good to see "FlightRisk" chiming in since this is on his ski that we are working on. I think I have enough ideas now I can figure it out. Now just wondering if its worth it?? Will it pretty much limit your higher speeds when trying to chase down boat wakes, since it might get a little lose?

I like the square cut idea. That's what I did on mine too. I think it will ride better and be more predictable in the water. The angle cut may create a bit of a hydraulic pulling the back of the hull down into the water. There's more aftermarket hulls that are square cut than angle cut. The angle cut does look better and has that chick dig factor though. Another option would be to make the cut, measure your angle and have somebody weld you up an aluminum one. Matt-E has the right idea.

I disagree.... The angle cut looks much much better and will not cause any type of drag factor. And a tip for all who are going to attempt this hull mod, glass it from the inside not the outside! The amount of material needed to make this strong and durable will just make the rear of the hull look waaay ugly and ride funny if the material is layed up on the outside. Take the time and do it right, you will thank yourself later.

These are just two quik shots of the cut and inside layup. (very rough, far from finished) The inside is layed up with layers of biax and carbon, biax and carbon.....for many many layers. Super strong and super clean. But if you like the square look, differant strokes for differant folks.....

just remove the tube, shape the hull, mark on the tube were you need the flange, cut the tube, then take it to a muffler shop(or someone that has an aluminum/stainless welder), re-weld the stock flange and re-install. looks factory. pm me if you need help or pics... dont have them on this computer.
