Super Jet How to tell if crank seals are bad???

Location
Utica MI
Hey guys im wondering how to figure out if my crank seals are bad in my 61x 701. I ordered a complete gasget kit with the intensions of replasing most seals. I just read the thread on a runaway engine and my ski did that once after a day of riding with all new fuel lines! So how can i tell if my case has proper pressure and if my seals are bad?

Thanks,
Nate

IF you have bought the seals already replace them. I would still do a leak down test though after replacing the seals and gaskets to makes sure before you put the motor back in. It would be good to do one before you tear it apart just so you know where your leak is coming from to figure out where the problem was.

if you replace the seals you will also need the stuff to seal the cases together. I think it's the threebond 1211 or some people use yamabond. When i did a leak down test i made a plate for the exhaust and a plate for the carb. On the carb plate i jb welded a bike valve that i cut off an old bike tube. You may also just be able to get a big plug for your exhaust (check online, or at a pool store) rather than make a plate.

I found some plugs at a marine hardware store that worked. They are like tapered rubber with a wing nut on the back that you can tighten and it expands, they are sized by numbers. Just watch out its amazing how far 10 psi can shoot one out if you dont tighten it well.
