Kids are idiots, although I have never met a parent that think theirs are! I doubt that a kid will hurt themselves on a 440 but they can easily kill a bystander with one. Think that one through and you'll be okay.

440 or 300sx would be great. you can adjust the throttles so they cannot go too fast. When I was teaching my kid at 4 or 5 I ran a long lanyard that I held onto. You could probably wire in a remote kill switch too. Or convert a ski to electric. =)

best way to teach kids from 5 years old (my experience raising 5 ) is to first limit the throttle with turf rolled close in between the lever and cable tied so it can't get dislodged....so they get 1/4 throttle at best.....then you need to be on a sit down that can "sheperd" them in any direction you want them to go...they learn the basics super fast like this and then you give them more as they start becoming water wise and aware of whats happening around them...

Age limit here is 14, but started my son at 5 years old. (Kawasaki 550sx) With that being said, we only rode early in the mornings or evenings when people were not around. Its hard enough now days to get your kid off his phone and outside. He is 20 now and we enjoy the garage and working on skis together. We now enjoy the passion together. So in my opinion be safe, teach them good boating rules and enjoy your kids.
