Hurricane questions

Love my glass hurricane. I chase boats on our smaller lake and it's fine. Pretty much exactly what Philip said. Pay attention and everything is golden. It does surprisingly well in washing machine lake conditions too. My avatar pic was on a blown out, chopped up, rough crap day.

Don't get me wrong, hurricane hulls have come a long long way. They're great hulls. I have nothing against them.

My best advice is to come ride with your local riders, check out their product, and give them a chance. Anyone on a small lake won't have a good perspective of lake st. Clair. Lake st Clair is an animal of its own. Nothing else like it in the country, ask rob Flores. He loves spending time at my cottage riding. I'm not knocking hurricane, I hope you make an informed decision.

I did not give a ride report. I've spent a few hours on this hull and I have enjoyed it.

I am simply offering a local rider the option to come out and test a new hull. A hull that is from a local builder. I think everyone would appreciate the offer to ride a new ski that is so close to home. I know if trinity or Bullett was in my backyard, I would be riding their boats. Thanks for your useless opinion space cowboy.

Not sure what the point of this post is, but unfortunately it is representative of the demise of this website. Being a member since its inception, it's a shame to see this is what it has come to.

If any lake St Clair riders want to come test out the crazy joe hull, PM me. I would be proud to rep a local product and give it a shot. The folks at crazy joes are down to earth and have supported local racing since the early 90s. They provide fantastic custom work and all sorts of repair. Lake st Clair is an animal of it's own, no flat water lake or inland compares.

Thank you space cowboy for your useless video hah j/k

Space boy let me ride is hurricane both with a jm 781 and now the PHP 898....cool hull for sure and rides great...really stable with the wide stance of the tray....would have my interest if I didn't own a DVX

My biggest complaint is the footholds...Im not a fan of the adjustables and would prefer a molded setup any day

That's it...no more rides for anyone. Lol just wait until I get the footholds all dialed in with locks...game changer

If you ride lake st clair, you need to hook up with the guys at crazy joes customs and ride their hull. I have rode lake st. clair since the age of 8, for the past 20 years. Crazy joe has been riding lng before me, and he's got a perfect hull setup for out lake. I have raced for 10+ years and rode every hull put there. Set up a visit with them, ride their ski and have a blast. It rails. It flips. It's perfect for our lake. PM me and I'll take you there for a visit.
I actually live 2 minutes from Joe. I haven't ridden his hull yet, but I've seen them in person several times. The few issues I have with it are that they just don't look good to me. It looks to boxy, and the fact that only people who live around us have heard of it would mean when I sold it I would get barely anything for it.

Jr no longer works for the ski clinic. He has moved production to an independent location.
not exactly whats going on but it sounds good to a kid thats wants to kind of gain some independance. they did move the hurricane production to another building down the street and its now JRs baby. it not like he said FU and went out on his own.
on boat chasing, i put an hour of break in on my beast yesterday and i could chase boats all day long on that hull if i didnt have 1200 power to waste on boats. it might not track as straight as my -5 freak, but 10x better for flatwater and chasing boats that arent going really fast. chasing really fast boats beats motors down.

I chase boat wakes all the time and cruise my 7 mile lake.

I'm just stating my opinion. If I was to go cruise a lake it would not be on a hurricane. I've ridden one multiple times in various condition and if I was riding long distances I feel this wouldn't be a hull on the top of my list.

Jr is running Hurricane Ind. I think it's pretty close to The Ski Clinic. I'll find out soon enough. Stripping my ski in the next couple of weeks for some freshening up cosmetically. I was a little hard on it last season and want it pretty again.

It's hard to find a hull that does it all nicely. Any flatwater hull, no matter how stable, is going to be short in length. Flatwater hulls also require a SHORT handle pole. So when cruising it's hard to stand straight up and cruise through chop. I'll sometimes stand in the front of my tray on long cruises, but doing that through chop isn't too much fun. Then it's surf stance time. I also run a kart tank, so I don't get too far away from camp.

So there's going to be tradeoffs. Although it seems the newer flatwater hulls are getting a little more flexible as far as wave slashing, boat chasing and flatwater tricks.
