I am looking to build a seadoo hx for fun surf riding. Has anyone ever shortend a hx hull?

Not to many couch riders here. I had an hx and it was a lot of fun on the race course. Hx has a super deep v hull that seemed to cut the waves rather than "jump" over them. It was never much fun in the waves.
of course this was all before I saw the light and ditched the sit down idea.

Do you have pics of the underside of the ski and where you plan to cut it? I have heard the same thing about HX hull int he surf, apparently they don't fly or launch well due to the V hull, but I havent ridden one int he surf as of yet. They are a lot of fun on flat water though!

This whole idea is kinda interesting. I know where there are two of these local to me. I think both have bad pump seals or something. If I remember this was a big issue with them. They do look cool and are fun on flat water but what is the weight? And I can't imagine reshaping the bottom would be that hard? Just what I need is another project ski right now but this could be a whole market of custom parts. Motor plate to accept a 701 based motor? 144 pump conversion? Light weight seat and hood ? 701 industries steering neck? Also didn't Polaris make a similar ski called a Hurricane I think? Never rode one but remember they where very short production run?
def needs weight reduction, but that wont be hard as those those come with tons of overkill. a lightweight hood could cut 20 lbs. alone. lots of potential here with cheap bigger motor options too.
