u may want to try this in wamiltons installation guides
i did mine last nite and it went perfectly (rails and all)till i ran out of wamiltons glue and then triied the dap in a red can. the wamilton glue stuck and stayed stuck instantly then i ran out and tried dap and it just wouldnt stick permently and instantly, therefore it was impossible to make bends. although i did use the precut mat- wamiltons may have a template-theyr precut matte fit perfectly-

if you used DAP glue and used it correctly and it didnt stick instantly.. then you did NOT use it correctly.

Follow the instructions on the can exactly and you shouldn't have a problem.

I used DAP to reglue turf that was coming up on Kim's 550 last year and it worked absolutely perfect.

I used a 2'x3' piece of plywood and a hammer to apply the 20 (or whatever) pounds per square foot.

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
He's right on that one. Let it all sit until it looks dry....and touch it together. The turf will most likely tear if you try and pull it apart.

shiat.... dap weldwood is a PITA it sticks so good... thats why its called contact cement... its not supposed to be sticky when you touch it... only when it comes in contact with another piece that has the same cement applied to it... then he is right- you will actually rip the surface of the turf off before the glue comes apart... you might have a tiny little bit of wiggle room if you accidently touch it to a spot ... you just have to be as careful as possible... main thing is you have to let it dry almost completely and with 2 coats on both parts (what most recommend). usually the drying takes between 10-20 min depending on the weather..... there are a few good writeups on the site here... I read them like 10 times before I tried my first job- search function.

BTW- you 21? Even if you're not you can still have fun- check out the link in my sig for the Put-In-Bay Island Freeride.... anyone who lives within driving distance of Lake Erie should go for the weekend

Here's the instruction manual for the gel type.

Did you get the gel type?

i had heard the same thing about the dap that it worked well- i just couldnt get the timing down right then- the can said wait 30-40 mins , i did that and it really wasnt wet or sticky when i tried- so maybe i waited too long? i did try one shorter time and still no adhesion, was the dap a white creamy color? the can looked the same as the picture

IMO, the gel works best, and I was reluctant to switch from the regular. Its thicker and only requires one thick coat in my experience.
