650/X-2 Hypnotic Build Kawasaki X2 650

not sure how i like the look of the set back steering, how much diff of a ride is it? can you set it back like an inch or 2 instead of 5? or do you need to clear the orig hole?

You may be able to make it work with just a couple inches, but like you say who knows if the plate would be strong enough if not moved far enough back to clear the orig hole. If you only need a couple inches and don't want to do fiberglass modifications, check out Rox Bar Risers. They come in lengths of 2, 3, or 5". They should fit most any bar brackets, and can allow for a 7/8 or 1 1/8 bars. I Moved my steering back 5", plus 3" bar risers. Makes the ride comfortable and easy to ride. I love it the Risers Don't slip around. You can ride all day and not get tired. The Trim I will post more pictures of, but I just ran a bicycle cable through stock hole in transom. Then used an L bracket which I welded my self, because the ones at ACE would bend I found. The 60" Cable fit perrfect but I did cut 3" off the back. I eliminated the stock trim adjust under the handle bars. Then you need to flip the trim nozzle over so that the it pulls from the top right side now, instead of the bottom left of the the impeller housing. Cut out the trim nozzle to allow for more throw. I will post more pics of this and foot straps, gas tank, ect.

Here are some pics of the foot straps which got through bolted into the side rail and with the pump out, int the pump housing. Since the battery moved under the seat the ski leaned to the left with the stock tank. So I mounted a 2 gal tank on the right where the battery previously mounted. here are a few picks. I have done some recent mods to it because it has slipped out a couple times on big jumps. The 2 gals tank mounted on the right seems to level the weight of the ski out. the last two pics are og the box of part cut off the ski which is close to 45 lbs.

Thanks Millah. I should also give thanks to Xh20 members Austin, for the inspiration to start this project http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/102539-winter-x2-build, and Vumad for making everything so easy for me to find http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/25705-X2-mods.

Thanks for the rec and I'm glad it was able to help someone. I added your build as requested. Looks good. That 2-tone turf really brought the color scheme together. I like that your worked the steering area rather than just sanding it flat like most. Gives it a cleaner look.

Ya, I'd like to help, You may have to ask if though, But here's what I know quick. I routed the cable through tube in the lower left corner the tube with the black cap on it. I put an L bracket approx 1" by 1" on the rear pump bolt, then used a threaded cable end like off a brake handle the part that adjusts the cable then found a nut that fit on the back and put this on the L bracket. You have to flip your trim nozzel over and cut it where it hits a little for more throw. Then as you put the nozzel on slide the cable through bolt and tighten at the right location. I put a spring in between the l bracket and the nozzel just to give a little tension out of the water. You don't need to do this, the water pressure willl return the pump to "0" while riding. Since I eliminated any sort of mechanism to add leverage The trim can only be pulled while hitting a wave, but it works and is cheap. Let me know if you have any more questions.

If you want to do FLIPS an X2 is not your best bet, go with a superjet!

Kchighrider, sorry took so long, know you been asking. The L bracket to the right from ACE is what I started with. I took the adjustment screw off and old brake handle and threaded it though this L bracket, then found a nut to fit it on the back of the bracket to keep it tight. The bracket bent quickly with the pressure of the nozzel and trim lever, so I welded a bracket out of thicker steel, and cut and welded a little triangle for more support. Havent had any problems since. It is rusty cuz I ride in the surf and I never painted it. Just wd 40 the brake cable every run!!
