Crysis is off the hook but you need at least dual 8800's or a 1GB 9800 to make it look respectable. Plus 3GB mem w/XP or 4+ w/ Vista!!

Unreal game play though!!!! Its basically like BF2 but your guy is wearing a bio suit and you can inject the suit with roids and crack and throw people 20 feet or jump on to roofs and shoot them.

Cloaking and super fast run too!

See, that's exactly why I went to console gaming only and haven't looked back.

These semi-annual hardware upgrades are quazy $$$

Me too. I play console games only now, and I get my computers for free through work. Just don't feel like rebuilding one every 3 months.

I had been playing on the same machine for 3 years with no upgrades until Crysis came along and blew everything out! I mean it is unreal.

But I would say if you built a killer gamer now you would be good for like 3-5 years of releases. And for under 1600 or so.

It is a lot but winter sucks if you are not in to skiing or snowboarding.

I can't imagine why you guys think U need to upgrade your computer hardware so often. Maybe it's cuz you guys keep buying cheap stuff.

Spend the extra money and get the good stuff and you won't have to upgrade hardware so often to keep playing the latest games. I upgrade my hardware about every 3 years, but when I do it's rather pricey. I'm looking at spending about $400 on my next upgrade that'll get me a next-to-top-of-the-line system. So far I've not found a game that doesn't run well on my old system I'm using now.

EDIT: I haven't tried playing Crysis, but according to it's system requirements my system should just handle it.

I'm not convinced at all.
On top of majorly expensive hardware (compared to a console), the good games come out on console first, or at the same time as other platforms.
Some games don't even get ported to PC anymore (or YEARS after)
I happy with an older computer for regular Internet/Entertainment use and a 360 for the gaming.

Yes, on 1 hand.

On the other you're looking at buying a console for $300 or $400, or spending the same amount for computer hardware and U can do a TON more stuff with a computer then U can with about any console.

You're absolutely right about some games not being ported to PC. Some PC games don't get ported to console systems as well.

In all honesty, if you're looking for something to only play games with (and pretty much NOTHING else), get a console.

I already had a computer to do all the other stuff. I just wasn't willing to keep upgrading it to play.
"The other stuff" doesn't need upgrades.
So, I took the money and bought a console to fit the gaming I do.
That way, I can keep my relatively old computer to do all the other stuff and not spend money on it.
And I have kickass gaming without any additional hardware expenditures down the road.
Win win. IMO, while PC games look better, it's ultimately more expensive. I used to be able to afford it, but no more.

The games worth porting get ported.

I have built 3 systems around this game and tested it to DEATH!!

Those minimum requirements will allow you to play it but it will look and play like crap.

It took triple video cards to get this game to run all settings on high at 2048 by 1600.

The only single card option that was semi acceptable was the 9800 which is simply dual 8800's.

It looked plain old ridiculously bad on the best AGP system available.
