i think i would have gladly accepted the ticket and talked to a judge about it.he has no authority to tell you you cant ride your ski as long as you are within the law.

Problem is that we ALL are "out of bounds" with the law in most states. :banghead:

Here's florida's ruling on the subject:

"MUFFLING DEVICES

All vessels must be equipped with an effective muffling device.

The use of cutouts is prohibited, except for vessels competing in a regatta or official boat race and such vessels while on trial runs."

IMO, that statement is open to interpretation by the officer pulling you over. To the best of my knowledge, it used to prohibit aftermarket exhaust systems all together.

Why do you think that aftermarket exhaust systems come with a disclaimer that states: "For Competition Use Only" ??? :dunno:

I do say i think my ski is to loud but it isnt much louder than my SJ with the X-metal water box. I am debating puting the stock waterbox back in my X-2. right now im running an old Factory one. I dont want to choke the 800.

I got to hear the x2 today and it is screaming.
I think the stock water box might be a good idea.

is a waterbox considered a muffling device?

i had a similar experience a while back.i opted to go to court.i looked up the florida statutes that i thought applied to my case, printed them and highlighted the most relevant lines.i made copies for the judge and the states attourney.the judge thew out the tickets and the states attourney thanked me for being organized and making his job easy.also,im sure the trooper that issued the tickets now has a clearer understing of these laws:biggrin:

LOUD is not fast so loud is not good. I hate obnoxiously loud skis as they draw unwanted attention. I guess I am getting OLD, but my redneck nieghbors have loud azz Harleys that they chose to drag race in the hood yesterday as I was chillin by the pool drinking a beer. I was like WTF, cant they go 2 miles down the road to a damn near deserted road and do this shiot. FRIGGIN REDNECKS w/ there $25,000.00 slow azz noise makers.
I have nothing against Harleys or any other bikes for that matter and we ocasionally make some noise w/ the 4 wheelers and pit bikes at my place but good god them things were anoying.

Holy shiot I am OLD LOL.

As standup riders we are the minority in a minority of boaters (PWC's) that people love to hate...

I also like to add Crotchety in there as it covers way more ground and gives you lic to get P.O.d for no reason:biggthumpup:

like the old guy on King of The Hill that waves his fist at the kids going by, cause he's too old to do sh*t...

I just checked PA noise ordanance and this is all it said.

"It is illegal for a boat to be so loud that it is an extraordinary annoyance or distraction to persons in the vicinity of the that boat." Boat motors must be equipped with an efficient muffling system or device in good working order. Most boats and motors that come directly from the manufacturer are adequately muffled. Boat exhaust systems may not be modified in any manner that will reduce or eliminate the effectiveness of the muffler or muffler system. Cut-outs (muffler bypasses) are illegal in Pennsylvania. Boats without a muffler or muffling system must be backfitted before being operated."

Quick question..

Is the square nose box louder than the round nose waterbox?

I ask because I have the same pipe that was on a round nose, and mine is quite a bit louder with the stock square nose waterbox...

the waterbox shouldn't be too dry... dual cooling, and T'ed before the cone's stinger... one pisser comes right off the header...

no.... probably quieter or the same due to the material used to make it.
