Do you really know what you're talking about? Our current limits are 800x800, bumping it up 25% won't give much more detail. If you need more, use imageshack/flickr/etc and link it. As far as degrading picture quality, the server doesn't degrade it, it just resizes down at 75% quality.

About the res thing, yes. I know there is the 800x800, but to scale the pic down in proportion without cropping (Makes for alot more work when you are uploading more than just a couple pics) 800x600 is the resolution you have to settle on.

To me, 1000x750 is alot better than 800x600... ALOT BETTER

Alright, let's test this.

5mp resized down to 1000x750 with Gimp at 85% quality:

uploaded the 1000x750 as an attachment and vbulletin resized down to 800x600 at 75% quality:

To me, hardly any loss in detail.

Also, you're not considering that the majority of visitors still use 1024x768 resolution, so 1000x750 won't fit their browser even in fullscreen mode.
