I need a fire extinguisher

So, as most of you are aware Kiddie recalled the 5PWC Mariner extinguisher that basically every PWC in existence has a holder/tube/mounting location for.

I submitted for the recall and the replacement Kiddle 5BC is 3/8" too large in diameter and with a rigid handle. It will NOT fit in the SuperJet holder – there is no way around it. They offer no other replacement.

Every online and in store retailer has pulled them from the shelves. I could care less if it actually works but I need it so I don't get a ticket. I got checked at the lake last weekend and the ranger even pressed down the pressure indicators. Well, my 3rd ski I plan on taking out soon does not have an extinguisher and I do not want a fat ticket.

What are you guys using for extinguishers now?

Hah, right? "There may be another space on your watercraft where the extinguisher can be stored or mounted"

If I only knew this was coming, I would have bought 5 from Walmart. They were only $10 when I bought one last year. Definitely don't actually send any in for the recall...

First alert makes one. Overtones says back in stock soon

I just found that first alert as well. I haven't found it in stock yet but I'm watching SmokeAlert and Overtones, both backordered. It is not commonly available with a Google search so I hope it isn't unobtanium.

Check your local pwc dealer they seems to h e them in stock. Also blowsion has them back in stock as well. I have a 2018 Superjet and didn’t have any problems with blowsions

I was on the waiting list for some with Blowsion, and they seem to have received a batch of the First Alert and are shipping them to me today. I asked for confirmation they fit the stock holder, and they said "it should work" -- I would have liked to hear they actually tried it though since I'm sure they have a few SJ around.

I'll let everyone know as soon as I receive them if they fit. Just don't want anyone to hound them before confirming.

Fox 40 makes one as well and it fits in the stock holders. At least the one I have here does anyways.

I went through all mine this past weekend to see which were eligible for the recall and found one is a Fox 40 and not a Kidde.

Which fox 40 you got, 2.0 or the 2.5 # ?
Also do you know approx dia and length of your OCD? Thanks, if you got to much going on don't worry about it

Well, I can marked this as solved. If you need one, call Blowsion -- they have them in stock, website is updated with the new First Alert. I received them in 3 days. It is more expensive than the Kiddie that was $10 at Wal-Mart, but life goes on.

Confirmed it fits in the SJ. The lid just clears the green pressure indicator pin.
First Alert FE5R. Coast guard approved. (Says with bracket only, but the kiddies say the same). Measures 2.90"D x 12 5/8" H.
The Kiddie is 2.89"D x 12 1/2" H.

The only First Alert I could find prior to Blowsion (backordered) is BF5-B and red, it seems like the white FE5R is the old part number of the First Alert? But the date code appears to be 2018 to me. Doesn't matter, it is exactly what I needed...

I did not get measurements off my Fox but if memory serves me correctly, the dia is the same but the pin sticks out just a tad higher and doesn’t allow you to put the cap on.

I think it may work on the newer yellow tubes but not the older black ones.

I’d check now but I just epoxied my garage floor and can’t get in the attic for at least 48 hours.

Straight from their customer support for first alert:

"Thank you for contacting First Alert.
The model FE5R is no longer being manufactured and has been replaced with the model REC5 which is Marine approved.
Thank you again for contacting First Alert and have a great day. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

The REC5 is too big for PWC factory storage compartments since it uses a metal nozzle and trigger until the old style. Guess they don't care about PWC market or the old style plastic triggers were the reason they were partially recalled.

My new-to-me SJ didn't have one, and one of my older skis had a Kiddie that did not pass the pressure test with the green pin. So I needed two.
