A degree will land him back behind the desk. I'm in the same boat trying to get out from behind the desk. With my electrical engineering degree no one wants to hire me for technician jobs, which is what I'd rather do. Maybe a degree as a technologist might be the way to go if you went back to school.

If you want to go back being a tech just don't tell them about your degree.
I have worked long and hard to get to my position of just telling people what to do and it rocks.

See i would love to be able to do that, but it would throw my wife into a clinical depression from worrying about how we are gonna pay the bills. honestly i could probabbly make it on 41-42K if i had to and work my way up from there. she is the kinda person that never stops worrying about money, as a child her mom was in a hock shop every month with her wedding ring or some kind of jewelry trying to just pay the bills, and then would have to drive to the place to make sure the power didnt get shut off the morning they were going to do it. I on the other hand dont ever worry about money, the lord has always beengood to me and took care of me,as a matter of fact i am the kinda person that will buy something then go home and figure out what i'm going to sell to pay for it! but she cant not worry! LOL
I'm not sure where you're coming from on this post, it's a book to read to help you decide where to go, it's not saying to quit your job.
