Sorry dude.... I must have been the straw.

Lol, more like a fly that just happened to land on the straw about 5 minutes after it had already snapped. It's all good and it has been coming for quite some time.

I have been frustrated with this ever since the gift idea first caught on. It was posted up on here in several different threads and the practice of sending as gifts spread thru our community like wild fire despite cautions by members such as myself. Look it up and you will see my protests date back to some of the first threads on the subject.

I'm not saying that anyone else has to follow suit, nor judging others that don't. I am simply stating practices that I intend to follow for my business. One cannot expect desired results without first stating desired expectations.

Bingo....

Same as businesses not being able to charge more then the advertised price to customers for using a CC as per the Merchant Processing Aggrement. They can advertise Cash at a discounted price though and this concept should be considered the same for PP vs PP w/ gift option.

Out of the garage dealers that charge more for PP fees are shady IMO. But not gonna make this into another Zeski rant thread.

It is not shady if you openly state "Plus 3% for paypal". There are other ways to send payment. Certified check or money order..... Nobody is forcing you to use paypal. It is easier but comes with a price. either absorb the 3% or openly say "Paypal is extra". I have never once had an issue paying, usually if the person does not ask for 3% I will give it anyhow. Nor have I ever had anybody say "Hey, I am not paying 3%" If they did, I would tell them to cent me a Money Order, but that has not happened.

Its not about the % its about the $. At what point would you rather have the extra cash and deal with the little bit of extra work. Obviously 3% for nickle and dime items you send don't matter. Start selling 30k ski's and I'm sure your opinion might change. Also from another perspective you sell parts as a side job, most sell parts as part of the hobby due to upgrading. Gifting has its place (why else would the average Joe prefer it), besides it feels better you can stick it to the man.

Ultimately it's up to each buyer and seller to determine what works best for them. This is just me stating the direction I am going in so it's no surprise when my sales threads come with my specific payment instructions.

I agree and I feel it's circumstantial. Paypal get's enough money, I just hate seeing our hard earned money being "wasted" into huge corporations bank accounts. I know they provide us with a service but still...poop, you don't even want to know how much ebay and paypal have gotten from me though listing fee's, final value fee's, and paypal fee's.

It's ridiculous. I feel I can use the money better than they can and IT'S worth my time for the extra couple dollars. I hope the link I posted earlier helps you and others determine how they would like to spend their time and have all available options.

Circumstantial, I spend 9-14 hrs/day on the job and another 3 hrs commuting. At this point, time is far more valuable than money to me. I'm actually not sure why I even bother with the OCD stuff at all some days.

Do you think Paypal Operates for free? How about this, you start working for free.

And actually PayPal fee's are quite reasonable compared to what a lot of credit card services charge. I've actually moved my business credit acceptance over to a PayPal merchant account to save me money.

I have said it before and I'll say it again. Paypal fees are a part of doing business online. Fees should be incorporated into all pricing. If a buyer sends payment in a fashion that doesn't net any fees then the seller is actually ahead.

Thanks for this. I was getting ready to slam the sh*t out of you figuring this whole rant was because people were refusing to pay the 3% that you demanded be tacked on. I see now that you don't do that BULL FECES. Carry on and I will keep this in mind if I buy from you next time since you make nice stuff.

I'm going to go ahead and put this back on top for the day. I just lost close to 2 hours trying to print shipping for a Canadian customer who send payment as a personal payment. What should have been a 3 minute task and $2.95 has consumed 2 hours of my morning, cost me $6.95 and has me so aggravated I'm out in the garage smashing :):):):).

I keep threatening to do it but the next personal payment gets refunded.
