That sucks.
If it was insured for the full amount, I'd talk to UPS (and expect nothing)

Those couplers suck any way. Get some cold-fusion ones that are kawi style so less rotational mass and the sexy factor to match that motor and turn that frown upside down.

i already have cold fusion couplers.

im jus worried that's alot of weight to land on just the coupler which is attached to the crank, what if crank is messed up or the seals are?even if off a lil can cause it to wear n make it need rebuild sooner!

im putting this engine in my new superfreak in a month,i dont want any unnecessary probs down the road

Yeah, that cast aluminum is much weaker than the crank, especially in the direction it broke.

Ups is the worst man. They've ruined two motors in the last year that I know about. My Dasa engine was dropped...like yours, but on the other end. They bent my cases so that the flywheel wouldnt fit inside the housing. Then they denied my insurance claim saying it wasn't package properly. I paid $50 for 5k worth of insurance and they said that 'it's' not considered insurance, just a "declaration of value.". Use fedEx.

Peanuts move around and bubble pack pops You talk to the shipper they say it has to take a two foot drop because they can slide off the rollers or conveyer belts. The larger the box the harder it is for someone to get a good grip on it.

its more like a four foot drop. I used to work for fedex. we had a guy come in one day and test drop packages to show us what happened. Lift and deliver 250 pieces a day and see how well you treat them after doing it 5 or 6 days a week.

I don't blame those guys at all. They are overworked and underpaid. Also a lot of hands contact your shipment along it's way. wrap it like it will fall four feet is the bottom line. After seeing what happens to those bozes I know I started wrapping things better when I ship them out.

Right on Bruceski. Last motor I shipped was surrounded by 2-part foam and styrofoam blocks. Not taking any chances.

Add 1 more motor to UPS's failures. A friend got a GP1200r motor that they dropped and broke the cases a few months back. They denied his claim, too.

What kind of box was used? I usually ship motors in milk crates and use ratchet straps to hold them together.

If insured for over 1k ups usually issues a high value report with the item never had a problem with them when i have to ship an irreplaceable water-pump or fuel pump.

Mine was packed with 3" thick, dense foam rubber and a 2x4" wood frame for the floor of the rubbermade tote and a 1/2" sheet of plywood for the roof that covered the whole thing. My tote was beat to hell. It looked like it had been dropped in more than one place as two corners were cracked and two sides were kicked in. It's a tote with handles, so I don't feel bad for someone who uses the excuse that they're tired and been doing it all shift. That sucks that the job is hard but that's not an excuse to beat the shiat out of my package. Get a different job if it's too tough or the hours are too long for u. There's :):):):)tier jobs for sure. Don't think these guys are digging trenches or cleaning port-a-potties. It's more of a management issue with quality control and customer care. I know UPS has to be able to keep costs down to maintain a reasonable shipping rate and be able to return profits...I guess denying insurance claims and giving customers the run around is their way to save money.

that sucks!
i have shipped a few motors and breakable items in the last few years. the last two motors, i wrapped in a plastic garbage bag, then in the bottom of the box, i used two part foam and poured in a nice thick bed of foam. just before it fully cures, set the motor in it. then foam around it so more. i did a 1200 pv motor and though it took the guy a little work to get it out, it worked perfectly. you could see where it was "handled" a little roughly so im glad i did it that way.
