When I got my square nose it came with the same prop Im using now: a solas YB-SC-I, 14.5/18 pitch. It worked pretty good with the 701 in it, but now its bored to 84mm, ported and big compression. Feels like unless its absolute glass I just spin the prop from a stop until I get moving a bit then it hooks and goes like mad. I have a top loader intake so I know its got plenty of water. So, is the prop the wrong pitch, or just an old not great style that doesn't hook up well?

I ran that same impeller on my blaster and never had any issues. Check your prop, pump veins, (dings, bends, chips etc) and pump seal replace and install it with silicone. Also a good time to upgrade to a 2008+ impeller

Also make sure there are no cracks in your reduction nozzle, this happened to me and it didn't go anywhere. I have a ported 83mm 61x with b pipe and 165psi compression in my square with that prop and a scoop grate and it hooks up pretty good.

You need a J Prop if your staying with that style. 14.8/18.5 or 19 If I remember correctly. Or a Hooker 10/16 would work really well for you. Also, Solas props are known to be not to pitch, yours could be lower. I had a J that I sent to get repitched, It was 14.8/ 19,21,21 Had it pitched down to 14/18 I think..............
