If you have a superjet without them, you are missing out....
I rode one yesterday with tubbies, I never want to ride one without them again... for some crazy reason i didnt believe they made that big of a difference, I was wrong, and im admitting it to you guys... anyone out there who doesnt have these, GET THEM!

on another note, i didnt think i was going to ride so i was wearing jeans and a t shirt... i changed my mind and rolled up my pants and hopped in, the water was brisk but I hadnt ridden all winter...

p.s. tubbies rock my world

In the surf or very rough chop they are fine, but in smooth water I have noticed that the nose hunts some........... dont care for that... but glad you like them.

my experience:

flat:
wow, it took all of 5 seconds to fall in love w/ them. I really noticed the difference right away. I never could ride a SJ on flat to well... just couldn't turn them that well, now I can rail that thing like mad... it just hooks and really makes the ski so much more enjoyable to ride.... I didn't notice any "chine dance" either.

surf:
like everyone says... the nose stays up when going down the face of a wave... big improvement there. turning on chopped up white wash was a bit easier... riding down the line seems a tad easier, but the outer chine will catch a little harder than you expect and give ya a roll if ya don't watch out... that will happen anyway... The best improvement for surf is just the carving ability... I can rip the top of the wave off and be leaning way on the nose w/o it sinking and wanting to sub on me... That really makes a big difference to me...

So, the differences? Were you on flat I assume?

Im used to kawasaki handling, when i would turn a sj w/o tubbies the nose would sink or i would catch an edge and fall over... the tubbies kept it right where i wanted it in the turns so like slut said, railing is so much easier...
yeah flat water... it was a little windy though so there was some chop :cool2:
tim, you dont know the owner of this ski, his name is luke... he likes cigarettes (the tobacco kind)

brraap....thats so 2002
tubbies would seem bad for freestyle,is that right? it just seems like it would keep the front end to stable.

someone used to sell something similar on ebay too if i remember right
i would love3 a pair too but will not spend 300 bux on a piece of plastic, not at least till i see how much of an improvment they are over r&d sponsons

w/ all due respect it's not a piece of plastic... if you want that, see Puddlepuppy (waterdawg)...

They are parabolic molded sponsons that are made from fiberglass, not plastic. They have been ridden, tested, and approved by the best riders in the world... so the next time you think piece of plastic, think again.... I admit 270$ seems expensive, but people will throw that at an impellor iw/o thinking about it twice... look at all the mods you spend on your ski... this would be pretty cheap compared

or fiberglass,
just based on my experience with my r&d sponsons on my old hull anything close to even $200 would be way too much , they just did not seem to really make any "GOOD" changes inthe riding characteristics of that ski

Now, if they are night and day different then maybe well worth it!!

i guess i would just need to try one with the tubbies
or actaully the tubbie 2's right?

Blowsion says T2's are for racing, T1 for free ride. Kelly has the R & D on her ski and I gotta say I like em'. A pipe/prop/footholds/scupper are almost mandatory but $300 T2's are not.

Someday maybe:rolleyes:

What makes fiberglass better than plastic? The Waterdwg sponsons that you speak of were made of polycarbonate.... the plastic they make bulletproof glass out of

I guess if your ski doesn't have to be bulletproof, fiberglass will suffice :sneaky:

ill admit it, i was in the same position you guys were /w being weary of spending 270 bones on a set of tubbies... now that ive ridden with and without, i firmly believe its a 270 well spent... they are unreal

as far as being bad for freestyle, not true, bump nose under a little and the extra bouyancy from the added surface area helps carry you up... hard to explain, try it and you'll want them...

i could see how tubbies would do so well, they widden the hull substantially. what i dont understand are other sponsons. like those waterdawg polycarb ones. they look like they dont add much... im not just picking on waterdawg, im just using them as an example. i think blowsion has some too.

how do those sponsons compare to tubbies?
