I tried tubbies yesterday

Everybody had parabolic sponsons back in the day. I don't know how they work on a Superjet, but they might be wider than you think. The 3D ones for example were half an inch thick. So both sides equals over one inch, which changes the water dynamics around the hull quite a bit.

The tubbies work really well IMO. They're not much if any more $$$ than most people's parabolic sponsons so they're a no brainer if you ask me. If they're not good for freestyle, it's mostly because you'll need to adjust your riding style a bit.

i've ridden two sj with similar motor mods, except one with T1's and it handled awesome! the turning was real aggresive. i liked it.

i had a stock 94 SJ and hated how it handled. i wanted to carve more. i sold it to cousinolaf and bought my sxr. last season jamie327 bought a nice sj with home made side sponsons on it. i really liked how it handled and decided to try another SJ out. so i sold my GPR this year and bought a sweet limited SJ off scorn800. first thing i bought was Tubbies 2 and can't wait to see how it handles! it might even motivate me to sell the sxr.

You just have to do better than plastic sponsons :smile: He doesn't even make those anymore, anyway.

I'll let you guys in on a 'secret'... you can make you own tubbies from UHMW. You can buy UHMW in all sorts of thicknesses, colors, hardness, etc. It'll cost you peanuts compared to a real set, and they'll work just as good.

McMasterCarr Sells pieces of it. 1/4", 3/8", whatever you need.

I think that will work for regular sponsons. I think the shape of tubbies would be hard to replicate. let me know if you've got a pattern. I just bought some junkie ebay sponsons to use until I can get some tubbies.

Interesting. I'll have to check out a set up close to see how hard it is to replicate. Unfortunatley, I don't have a pattern of the tubbies.
