How did test ride go?
Went perfect. Runs perfect with the Scupper Flap back on it......... Been chasing my damn tail for almost 2 months now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It all started when my pipe was running to hot, pulled to the bank, popped the hood and the pipe was steaming hot........ Worked on it, got the temps back to where they need to be, but in doing so, would pull to shore to check, and small amount of Smoke would be in the hull.............. Then kept chasing my tail....... Everytime I would "Check" there would be smoke".......... Pull Pipe, Reinstall, Then pulled motor, reinstall, test ride, pull water box.................................. on an on................ Just the damn scupper flap....... That said, I do not see how the Thrust setup does not let in exhaust smoke at low RPM's...... Is the ball a whole lot lighter than the Versa Max ball? Allowing it to get sucked in place?

I think it's been said but...The smoke only travels up the scupper tube because your starving for air. I dont think your pole breathers are enough. I had 2 shop vac hoses in my hood liner and pole tubes and it still yanked my hood down when I did the test. Cut a 3rd hose in and it stopped pulling the hood down. Does an edge even have a hood liner? Bilge pumps let air in when not pumping water. You could add thru hull fittings and hoses with plumbing loop to bottom of hull just like you were installing pumps.

Well, if I was starving for air, wouldn't the ball be getting sucked into a closed position???????? No Liner. Aquaholic build up Bobby Biggs Edge with a DASA900-950 or so. He added build fittings for extra air. I dont feel mine is starving. Only running 44's and 820cc motor.

Didn't you say the ball is too heavy though? Could it be that the vacuum that you're pulling is enough to pull exhaust gasses, but not so high that it pulls the ball closed?

I think the ball size for 2.5 inch ball scuppers is just to big and as Bk said too heavy as well. Case in point is Jamo07 added a smaller ball scupper in place of the rrp flap and it stopped letting air into the hull without any other hood breather changes... before this we also ran the ski with the hood off and smoke still came in with the larger ball scupper..

Smoke comes in at very low wake speed at near an idle with low demand for air as well

Maybe starving was the wrong word. Motor is gonna pull air though the path of least resistance. Mine is just an 865cc with 44s. It needs more than pole tubes.

You are running an Xmetal pole with their tubes, they are a good bit smaller than the RRP tubes!!!!!!

Just to confuse the matter further....I have been running an original versaplug max with no flapper on my Superfreak Badass since 2012 with no exhaust sucking issues. I also switched to a rrp pole from an xmetal at some point and completely closed off my hood breathers with no performance loss at all and I run a 967 with dual 46's.
