Idea : ski of the month

Just don't vote on skis based solely on a price tag, but the innovation and creation. There could possibly be a theme for the month like vintage/superjets only/flat water/surf/racing etc. I'd rather vote for skis that were self built, with tons of itching and home motor work.

I couldn't have said that better . All the work on my ski is done at home by me . Other than bottom end engine work but other then that everything else was done at home . In my garage ,I'm sure to everyone else my Sxr is prob nothing to anyone else but to me it's prideful looking back watching it transform from a stocker to my image

The themes I think would spice things up and allow everyone to get a shot. I'd also like to add "Rat Ski" prize for skis that beaten and abused, but still manage to be "ol faithful" when it comes to hitting the surf or the lake on the weekend. Fiberglass patches on the hood would be a plus in this category.

One of the reasons jet skis are so interesting to me, is the constant evolution. It isn't done by highly sponsored race teams, its done at home in our garages or a small business. Sometimes you have to think outside the box and run to a local store to find something you think will work. Nothing like going to home depot asking for a certain duct tubing for hood breathers and they look puzzled when you tell the employee its for a jet ski. Although it's tons of fun to hit the surf, there's something about looking at other people's skis on the beach, admiring the work, the creativity or that new RRP carbon chamber. I actually thought about a ski of the month a week ago. I think it would be a great addition to the site.

@Parkersxr...agreed with the involvement on building up a strictly stock ski. I have done it twice with as much emphasis on freebie mods as possible before eventually having to move up to the aftermarket. My SJ has been on the slow build for 3 years now, each year I find something else to do to it or something I would like to change and I document it thoroughly in my build thread. Buying a full on pre-established aftermarket ski is awesome but not the same as a stock build imp.

Been there, done that, many years ago. It was worse than pulling teeth trying to get people to do it because either someone didn't think their ski was good enough, or they didn't want to brag, or they didn't want everyone knowing what they had and becoming a target.

That's the easy part, you have to find members that actually want their ski judged/etc each month. Everyone is all for it but few people actually put their ski out there for it.

I think ideally the mod would start the thread and if you wanted to be considered you would have to post your build link in the ski of the month thread. Maybe entries are due by the second week of the month and then the poll is added for people to vote. The winner has their build featured on the main page.
