Idle now at approx 2,500 rpm.... ??

Had to replace the bendix , while I was at it decided to upgrade to a RN aluminium waterbox. I was careful working around the stator, etc. Now it is ticking over at around 2,500 rpm , and adjusting the low idle screws on the carb does not seem to make any notable difference.. Any ideas on how to cure this... Thanks.

There's only one idle adjustment. There are two low speed mixture screws. Do you know which you are adjusting?
As Vumad said, ensure there is free play in the throttle cable.

Its a 46mm mikuni carb , as far as I know there is one low/idle adjuster and one high. I was working nowhere near the carb , so i`d imagine I couldn`t have disturbed any of it.. Will check the free play , thanks..

No, there is a low mixture screw, on side of carb, on bottom, marked "L", and a high mixture adjuster screw on opposite side marked "H". There is an idle adj. screw right at your throttle linkage that pushes on your throttle cam to open the throttle.

You can look into the carb at the throttle and see if it's open too far.

I agree if you didn't touch it there is likely another issue. Check your cable at both ends and be sure it didn't pull out of the adjuster. Sometimes the silver pressed on ends separate from the cable housing, pulling the cable. You may have pulled on the cable while you moved the waterbox.
Good luck.

When i had this happen, i had not touched anything, and the ski worked perfect when parked. My cable started to fail, so when i turned the bars and lifted the pole to get ready, the cable cracked and popped out of its housing where it connect to the lever. The housing then got caught on the adjustment, making it like i had turn the adjestment all the way out.

Its a boat, and lots of poopty coincidences happen when you work on them. Start at easiest and work back. Dont assume the work you did is the direct cause of your problem.
