Impeller or Enhancer? What to upgrade

I don't understand what you mean by this:

"....and the stock CDI actually has a wider curve. You can advance your timing, and have better performance than a MSD, and this is free."

Here's the thread with OCD's measurements:

Here are the curves:

It looks to me like there is nothing good about the stock curves, but I'm interested in learning.

I have had good luck with enhancers. 1st one installed in 99 and taken out of service in 2006, thought it was bad, it wasnt. 2nd one (bought used)from 2006-2018 still good, stopped using when I bought my DASA with electronics (Advent). If Advent craps out will throw the enhancer back in. I still have original enhancer somewhere in my attics space of my shop..........That should still work...........

Is that the thread in Sorbeck's post that you were looking for John?

I too haven't had any bad luck with enhancers. I was troubleshooting an intermittent issue with a similar motor setup as yours (b-pipe, ADA head, hooker 9/15) and swapped my enhancer for a stock 62T CDI. The low to mid range difference was night and day. The enhancer was definitely noticeable and I immediately swapped it back in (enhancer wasn't causing my issue).

Lots of people including me have had MSD issues. I too will not use again.

OP, how is your current coil showing signs of wear only 6yrs old???

I cannot remember. I know it was someone I knew, and trusted. I swear OCD had his own post, showing all curves, and the way I remembered it, the stock curve was less aggressive, but wider. IE just advancing the timing was better.

Again, I do not have time this morning to research. I will try to remember to do so later today.

I may be totally wrong. (not the 1st time my memory is bad....)

I DO know though we too have had failures, and quality issues with the MSD's, both Kawi and Yamaha...

Now I'm digging around because I'm curious. There are a few different threads out there on the subject but I haven't found any with different curves they all just talk about that info that OCD measured.

Maybe you're thinking of the Kawi curves? They seem to be more like a "normal" two stroke curve but I have seen conflicting info on the specifics (I think Kawi had more different CDI's with different curves).

Lots of good advice here, but IMO I would go with zeeltronics. I pieced my kit together for less than $400. Great electronics system that will grow with your ski or even future skis as you can load multiple maps and swap it to total loss if you want. I never had issues with my enhancers, they are a great upgrade, but for the money you are much better off going with zeeltronics if you are going to spend money on your electronics.
