Just to explain how they work since this came into play recently.
Break a rule, you get an infraction which is worth a point value. The infraction expires after a certain period of time. For very serious infractions, we can do a custom one with however many points/length if needed. If you hit a certain point value, you get an automatic ban and the length of time depends on how many points you have.
Infractions
Spammed Advertisements - 1 point - 10 days
Insulted Other Member(s) - 1 point - 3 months
Signature Rule Violation - 1 point - 10 days
Inappropriate Language - 1 point - 10 days
Post Dumping - 1 point - 3 months
Automatic bans
2 Points---1 Day(s)
3 Points---2 Week(s)
4 Points---1 Month(s)
5 Points---6 Month(s)
6 Points---Permanent
So, let's say you post dump a lot. First time, you get 1 point that lasts for 3 months, nothing happens. A week later you do it again, you get another point and get a 1 day ban. After the ban, you still have the 2 points so if you do it again prior to those points expiring, then you'll hit 3 points and a 2 week ban.
Anyway, that's how it works. I'm pretty sure you can look in your profile and if you have infractions/points, there will be a tab listing them and when they expire.
