Inside an antigravity battery

i stopped it cause i had to get back to my actual job (and didn't trust leaving it) but it seemed to be working. voltage was slowly coming up/down and incrementing up. I think thats why this battery failed. one cell was way higher then others which i think made it basically not charge all the cells.

I literally just tossed one in the trash last week that's been sitting for a while, most likely due to one low cell. Oh well, I'm sure one of my other couple will fail soon. haha

I don't think there is any problem with balancing, but I think the different cell chemistries have different rules for charging, like hold at some constant current up to some voltage then lower current or something like that, and it isn't necessarily the same for a lipo as a lifepo, but I don't know off the top of my head.

Well this charger supports lifepo. That’s what it’s set on so I guess I’m good.

Maybe just cover it in dielectric grease or a conformal coating so you can get to it if you need to. Epoxy would probably work too, but seals it fate. I would epoxy the seal when you put it back together and see how that works.

LiFe cells don’t catch fire as easy with misuse and arnt as sensitive to being out of balance compared to lipo but you should still balance charge them and store them at storage voltage..(forget what that is for life only had one radio battery all the rest were lipo) in my experience with rc batteries they are all soldered terribly like that..

Thought some people might find this interesting. Out of frustration around dead-ish rediculously priced AG batteries, I took an old one apart. Based on what I see, this can easily be balance charged. also the the top posts that spin often can easily be cleaned and tightened. Also, should be easy to put back together. Thoughts on filling voids and circuitry with epoxy once it’s fixed?

I have another one I need to take apart... question, is the cable eye to post got a nut you can tighten up? Your photo seems to show that? Thanks

Yup and they were very loose. Tightening and either loc tite or epoxy on the posts will be a huge improvement alone.

Thank you! What method did you use to separate the top from the case ? Prying and lifting gently a little at a time with a small screw driver till it comes free ?

Took a hack saw at the seam until I was in just enough to clean the goo out and get a screwdriver in. The overlapping surfaces are still intact. Went around all sides. The glue they used isn’t real strong.
